Probably the best post of the last five years
By the way, when looking after the kids yesterday I managed to include a blast up McCarrs Creek Road in the Liberty, which those of you who have travelled all over Oz would recognise as one of the most fun 8km of Tarmac in the Sydney Metro area. We all enjoyed it too!I consider myself an enthusiast.
I spend most of my free time talking anything cars to whoever will listen.
I'm privileged enough to have driven some nice cars on some great roads up here in Scotland, mostly friend cars or through previously working for a classic car chauffeur firm - including an Aston Martin DB5, Bentley Arnage, various classic Rolls Royces, Oldsmobiles, Packards, Porsche Boxtster S/996 Carrera/997 Turbo, VW Campers and more.
It's not about what I own (these cars are to suit a purpose), what I will own (budget and needs dictate) but about enjoying cars and driving - I'm happy enough driving an old Transit around if someone throws me the keys.

Did a lap of Bathurst years ago; that was fun.
Okgie; agree with some of your rant but no need to get so personal. Well unless you want to say that to my face that is. Which you won't.
I would love to be able to say it to your face but I'm afraid your just such a driving god I wouldn't be able to keep up with your turbocharged unique powerhouse m135i with a few extras paid cash in my leased diesel golf :/ real shame really. Maybe il have a chance on the snow if your in your van, oh wait 4wd. I'm screwed for life.Okgie; agree with some of your rant but no need to get so personal. Same as this
I find the aggression, rudeness, and occasional downright nastiness displayed in some of the GG threads quite dismaying. You don't find this kind of thing at club meets, shows, or track days, my regional PH get togethers and hoons are just brilliant, great bunch of people. It must be the anonymity the internet provides that draws the 'keyboard warriors' here. Sometimes seems like PH is a target rich environment for internet bullies and the socially inept.
I feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest

Trying to keep a lid on it feels like trying to pour smoke through a key hole and has done for atleast 18 months.
It's not confined to PH tho - the internet brings out the best and worst in people.
Having said that, PH is nowhere close to being the friendly forum it was when I first joined. People can accuse me of having rose tinted specs if they like, but that's my observation.

What is a "M135i" anyway? Is it a road?
No it's a tuning package and some winter tyres for the mx5 mk1 but only if your car cost lost than £1000 in the first place. It's a bit of a pyramid scheme, if
Enough people buy it you can pay off your mortgage 2.6 months earlier than planned!

Pistonheads is, and has always been, a forum where people come to argue over niche opinions. It's a place where people like to be contradictory, and to have opinions that set themselves aside from the masses.
In short, it's crawled up its own 'arris.
You've been on here as long as me, surely you must know that for it to crawl up it's own arse it'd have to emerge from it first! It was begotten from within it's own arse! In short, it's crawled up its own 'arris.

Ireland?
Only from Cork to the SW tip of Ireland. Ran around a few "mountains" in that area too. But yes, a trip over would be fun. I've done Llanberris/Snowdon in the 335d and that was a hoot. South Island NZ is VERY good for driving too but rather far away..Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
