Which is no reflection on the arseholes customers we often have to deal with.

I had a couple of different ones with weekend. Some bloke who I just couldn't get a conversation out of at all, miserable censored I spotted the car he was on demo in only had a range of 50 miles or so and said I'd fill it up. "well that's not very good is it" rolleyes I won't bother next time.

Another bloke delivers back the new 123d after a 2.5 hour t/d, dumps it in the entrance right in the way. Gets to reception where the lady was on the phone to a customer imediately he's pacing up & down tuting so I go over and he has a go at me because she wasn't ready to speak to him, censoredcensoredcensored off.

I've noticed on here, Mercedes dealers seem to come in for a fair bit of stick....

Not my experience at all, a big vote for Mercedes Whitefield (Manchester), bought two new cars from them in the last few years, Excellent salesmen, friendly and could not do enough to help, both before and after sale....thumbup

It's not all doom and gloom.........

I was in the trade once and will always fight the salesman's corner.
Trust me for every customer who throw's his toy's out of the pram and storms off there's another one coming in from another dealer disgusted at how they were dealt with,it all goes round and round.
People need to chill out,it's not life and death.

I've not noticed Mercedes dealers getting stick. BMW does every single time a new car is out you get the same fugly comments etc, very irritating.

I do like the occasional 'I spent 20 minutes looking round a car in a dealer and noone came and spoke to me!'

Just imagining these poor souls fuming their way round their weekly shop 'I've been staring at these apples for 20 minutes and noone has come and spoken to me! damn their eyes!'

I'm the opposite - if I'm looking around I prefer to be left alone, and if I want to speak to a salesperson I'll go and find one. Just shows you can't please everyone all of the time!!

Yes, and that is the way I like it.

If I spot a car I actually do want to buy, I will find a salesman and start asking about it. I hate it when you can't actually even look round a car due to the steady stream of salesstaff asking if you need help..

So yes, it must be hard for them to please everyone..

+1

to try and get around this ^^, some dealers come up to you when you go in and say - hi (or something smile ), feel free to have a look around, i'm right over here -----------> if you need me/have any questions etc.

that way the customer doesn't feel ignored and they're also not pressured.

Its best in situations such as this to turn and walk away, even if the car is a good deal I wouldn't give the 4rseh0le the satisfaction, it would just taint the ownership of the car. It costs nothing to be polite and it makes good business sense.

I will always acknowledge a customer and will offer my assistance if they need it. If they're happy to have a look unassisted then that is absolutely fine with me.

I hate those letchy salesman tha feel the need to follow a customer around and shiow them how a door opens or where the engine is!

I treat customers the way that I would want to be treated. smile

...with free cars? thumbup

I like the ones that let you browse and say "I'm here if you need me" sort-a-thing.

Problem is though, look at the responses on this thread. Some are saying "I want to be acknowledged" some are saing "I will come to you when I am ready".

Poor salesmen don't know which bloomin way to turn!!! hehe
