Except that's not what happened at all, as I said I didn't see him until he was already passing me. Besides, with that sort of speed differential if I had tried to block him it would have ended in a nasty accident, and the chances of an old Focus driven like that being fully road legal are pretty slim. I have no interest in putting my safety at risk to prove a point.
As said before, bad observations. If it were a motorcyclist you'd have swung right into him.
Regardless of what the OP did, that was some pretty ludicrous driving from that Focus there. Clearly no intention of properly merging.
It's getting really tiresome how desperate people are on this thread to criticise the video uploaders.

It was clear to go when the lights started to change as the redlight jumper hadn't even passed his set of lights at the time, imo it's 100% on the jumper.
I always go on amber if it's clear, if a car decides to jump the lights then it's on them imo, had an odd one the other day where I'd cleared the set of lights before a jumper passed behind me, really need to refit my rearview dashcam as they proper bricked it and emergency stopped.

I don't understand how the van managed to do that - no question the Nissan jumped the light, but does the van driver not look where he's going?
Does make you wonder why the van didn't just slam his brakes on and them potentially coming to a more gentle collision.

Could have been deliberate, could have been that he was looking left in case someone jumped a light from that side or he thought he saw a car moving off from there, could have been checking his passenger side mirror before going across the junction etc.

Although he started to move off on amber, he was just at the dotted white line when it was a definite green light and the Nissan driver jumped a definite red at some speed (along with that Audi driver!!).

If you are happy to cross on STOP why bother waiting for the amber? You may as well cross on red, then, using your logic, if it is clear . . .

And you are content to allow a crash so long as fault can probably be pinned on another driver?

Was it you "driving" the van in the video?

It would appear that most DCW can select which bit if the highway code they can conform to depending on which ever suits the situation.

DCW doing 30mph flying into roundabout then gets cut of by someone who pulled out slowly. - DCW is in the right.

DCW doing 20 mph in single lane carriageway, accelerates when someone goes to overtake - DCW is in the right.

Its a camera, not a get out of jail free card!

There is a small bit in the highway code that states if another road use makes an error, you should ignore this and continue on with your journey.

Dashcam exonerates driver with a red light crash in London, hopefully the police did the Audi behind as well for dwdca.

How many people did the driver say was in the car for the first claim?

Ah, so owning a dashcam now gives you rights to enforce the law! - didnt know that. wink
In theory it is everyone's job to enforce the law - that is why people report incidents to the police and provide them with witness evidence.

Also to note that many road works, especially with narrow lanes or some other conditions will often state for vehicles to "stay in lane" and sometimes also have a "no overtaking" order in place.

So this will result in vehicles being in lane 2 even if there is nothing in lane 1.

I think the asshole was a complete knob stopping like that, dangerous on a Mway

The dashcammer should have moved over

However...it was refreshing to hear a Dashcammer without a whiney breaking voice of a 13 year old boy, he propper shouted it for once

...Nothing worse than all these cammers muttering c-u-n... whilst sounding like Jays younger brother off the inbetweeners

The website in your profile sounds a bit, er, specialist. It wasn't the ST driver, was it...?

People that don't understand how to merge.

Hanger Lane is a horrible junction; people get confused and in the wrong lane. You need to make allowances!

White van man living up to stereotype though with unnecessary stop to make a point.

Isn't this the point though: Learning lessons in order to reduce the chances of being involved in someone else's accident rather than just pointing out that the other guy is an idiot?

exactly, my instructor drilled into me that everyone else on the road was an idiot looking to crash and you should plan accordingly

just because someone else makes a mistake does not mean you should just barrel into them carefree

Same here. I taught my son the same principle and am about to start teaching daughter, so same applies again.

Yes I am aware of that. It's one thing pointing out "The other car was a complete loon but it looks like you could have left more of a gap there mate", quite another to go on and on and on about it ignoring the main offender in the video.

It really is becoming quite tedious and like I said it seems that some on here are absolutely desperate to find fault in any dashcam owners driving.

Well, as the main offender is self evidently an idiot in most cases, any debate is likely to be about what the cammer could have done differently, not to mention irritation at the subset of cammers who deliberately create near misses, or repeatedly have the same sort of near miss having learned nothing.

I think you will just have to put up with it!
