Great thread, I recognise so much of this stuff from my dads cars! Here's one for you if you dare - My mother always had a "Lady Wee" thing so she could have a "Jimmy Riddle" in those awkward moments when there were traffic jams etc. I have no idea if she ever used it but it was still in the car when she stopped driving last year.

Bit of a challenge for you! smile

Plastic defectors on the windows....usually in smoked brown. One for the sunroof too.

Old school crook lock and Halfords locking wheel nuts with the appropriate sickerage supplied in the pack on the wondows.

How about a "We've been to......"(Insert attraction like Pottery World, Weaving world or something if it exists.

Simonium - if you do decide to sell on the Peugeot old buffer chariot, a full photo extravaganza of the weapon is essential before it goes on Gumtree. Pics taken with a Box Brownie of course; none of that new fangled digitational rubbish please.

Then I realised that it would not be appropriate as it's Japanese and don't forget the war etc, so that also rules out the Proton 1.5 GLS:
Think my old school headmaster had one of those.
Aren't Proton Malaysian?

Once "The Armchair" is cleaned I will put up photos of the latest acquisitions - 2010,2011,2012 National Trust window stickers, Caravan Club sticker - it's getting so silly that I am starting to struggle to see out of the windscreen due to obsolete club memorabilia - the weirdest being Truro Diocesan Bellringer's Club window stickers taken from a scrapper that came in at work.

The boot has some Axminster carpet to protect the floor lining. A colleague of mine found a tartan umbrella to match the rug on the back seat. Luckily they will all transfer nicely to the next grandad wagon. I am sorely tempted to take this one to a show and shine, once I have acquired the appropriate chrome detailing - number plate surrounds, wheelarch trims etc.

Who me ?

No, but suggestions welcome. As for a replacement, what about a Montego?

Something taller than it is wide. I suggest a Toyota Verso.

Am I the only one to think its a shame to mess up an immaculate, low mileage 406 110 diesel?

Rather fancy that myself.

Sorry to be a spoil sport.

Ah, but this is the genius of it!! There is nothing attached or permanent, everything is easily removeable with no issue. There are only window stickers and one sticker in the filler cap. I'm putting it up for sale in April once it's had its MOT. I need a much less good car to destroy in my pursuit of retirement perfection. Of course everything from the umbrella to the obsolete handbooks and maps are negotiable :-)

Every old persons car I've seen always has a plastic fuel can, orange tow rope and one of those 4 way, cross shaped wheel braces in the boot. Torch and other survival kit is optional

Reading through the whole thread, I am reminded that my Dad had an "AA Book of the Road" with the M25 shown as a dotted line because it hadn't been built yet.

I am also sure it advertised a "London Pilot" service where you could pick up an AA staff driver in North London who would drive you and your car through to the other side. Am I making this up, or did this service really exist, and did any PHers or their parents use it?
