It would if they made more than a handful of them, any word on how many they will make?

Let's say someone wants a reasonable specced one and isn't able to get from a dealer what do we think that's going to cost them, 100k?

Trackdays at £320 per tyre and you'll get blown away by the guy in a £5k Bike engined Seven.

The new MX-5 is a much better car and one that you'll be able to drive without worrying about running costs or potential depreciation.

Surely the fact that people are mention 'vital options' means the car is a farce for 'Not as successful as their mates with the GT3' City boys or IT managers who think they can drive.

Spoke to my OPC just before 6pm and they've taken 29 x £5k deposits today alone. They've heard that that means (in theory) the whole UK GT4 allocation has already been sold in one day. frown

The speculators have all gone Porsche mad. With RHD 997 GT3RS4.0 hitting £400k now everyone thinks they'll be getting paid to rag a GT4 for a few thousand miles. This GT car frenzy is getting out of hand and we will see some very crazy borrowed money being thrown recklessly about until it all goes pop in a very big way. Look at the classifieds - they are full of GT3RS4.0, all the original owners cashing in and who can blame them? This looks to me like a great time to sell and a potentially ruinous time to buy. Beware of the hype phers! It's just a car, nothing to bet your life savings on. And it's worth having a look at how much fun (and performance) you can buy second hand for £15k once in a while.

Damn you Porsche I have had a £65-£70 budget for a Gallardo or F430 and been looking for a while.

Been maxxed out at work today so missed this announcement (not a Porsche fan normally) but love the look of this and only really want a weekend toy as have a new Golf R for sensible stuff.

If they have any slots left I will be calling Exeter Porsche tmrw and putting my deposit down!

Just trying to figure out what options I would have given my max £70k budget.

Fantastic car to drive I'm sure. It's also the Porsche idea of a 'bargain', as it's nearly £20K cheaper than a 911 Carrera S, and just as good. Everybody kept saying Porsche were holding the Cayman and Boxster back, but now they've taken a by selling a Cayman that's arguably better than, and certainly faster than, a base 911.

Apparently it might just be sold out. Very limited numbers, good for Lotus I guess, and for the lucky buyers who were quick enough to put their names down for one.

Honestly I think it makes perfect sense for GT Porsches to increase in value immediately after leaving the factory.

If you're both super-rich and a petrolhead, then a GT3 (RS or not) is certainly very high on your list of cars to own. And you'll be willing to pay A LOT for one.

Cayman GT4? Wise investment, I reckon.

Doubt that very much. The Evora will be more powerful, faster and most probably handle better. Clearly won't be put together as well though and I'm thinking the cayman gearbox will be smoother also.

A lot of good things about the gt4 but I'm just not as excited about it as some others I'm afraid. Still looking forward to the reviews. When are the press cars out?

Deposit down, I'm 9th on the list at my dealer. Dealer can't promise I'll get one in June/July and reckons it'll be some time afterwards.

918 owners automatically got on the list, but it's doubtful they'll go for this so I'm hoping to go up a couple of places and get it earlier!

Wasn't the clubsport pack (cage, harnesses, fire extinguishers) free with the GT3? 2.7k gbp on this.

563gbp to have colour matched air vent slats, brilliant!

For everyday use, is it still the GTS? I got one last week, to replace my 4C (not an everyday car - gearbox, ride, poor seats). After having a Gen 1 and 2 Cayman the GTS is such a step forward. Handling so sweet, ride even with 20mm option drop is still comfortable, performance all you will ever need on the UK roads. How many of us could afford to track a GT4 and that's the only place you will see it's performance above the GTS.

That said, I still want one. And it's the one that makes the financial sense; it will never depreciate!

I heard just 130 odd for the UK.

All GT3s used to depreciate until recently, even RS's. The GT4 is not a limited production car so Porsche will churn them out in large numbers to satisfy the obvious demand. Massive under supply in 2015 might see some premiums changing hands. But just watch them fly out of the factories in 2016. Once the bubble bursts it will depreciate, you can be sure of that.
