Most boring car you've owned?
Discussion
Ironically on of the best cars I ever owned was also the most boring.
Performance? Very good performance, more than adequate, to the point of boredom.
Ride and handling? Very very good. Boringly so.
Economy? Just adequate, Boring.
Comfort? Extremely comfortable. Bored.
Reliability? Completely reliable, boringly reliable.
The car? An '04 E46 BMW 330D Sport auto.
Great car, but so boring.

VW Golf Plus - It just sort of is. It just kind of sits there being a car. Nothing interesting has ever happened in one or because of one. It was so boring & I didn't have for long, I can't even remember if it was a diesel or a petrol. In fact I can only just remember it.
Nissan Note - Utter rubbish apart from a comfortable driving position. Handled like a suitcase falling down a flight of stairs. Not as bad as the Golf because it did get me home in the worst snow storm I ever been in. Apart from that, hideous.

Similar wavelength here! I had a manual E90 330i Sport which was very competent but had zero character, even once the horrible run-flat Potenzas were removed. Equally the "best" and "worst" car I ever owned. Most enjoyable were an R53 Mini Cooper S which was incredibly versatile, affordable and had tonnes of character or possibly an '86 635CSi. If you're ever looking for cars that are going to increase in value, just pay attention to whatever I'm selling and do the exact opposite

Without doubt a 2008 Mercedes c220 Cdi saloon (AMG Sport spec). The most terrible 4 cylinder Diesel engine I have ever had the misfortune of using - harsh, noisy, rough, utterly hateful.
For your sake I hope nobody ever hands you the keys to just about any pre 90s diesel if you think your Merc was the worst . You might need counselling if you are ever treated to an Escort diesel! Hi chaps, long time lurker but felt compelled to register to post on this thread.
Nissan Note 1.4 '08. My wife's hand me down (she bought it and had it a year before I got it 3yrs ago).
Whoever said cars can't be boring, they're just not driven right, should get a set of keys for this. Dull and lifeless with shockingly terrible gear ratios (1st is pointless, 5th is too short). No power. Only good things are it's depressingly comfortable to drive, decent mpg (48 recorded), reliable and great in snow with average all seasons on. It's going by the end of year come hell or high water as it's up to 96k miles.
I'll probably regret it when it's gone and bills come rolling in

Bit unfair on the 350Z I thought - I chopped in a boxster for a 350Z because after the novelty of 'I've got a porker for the first time" wore off, it was so beige anodyne on the road unless it was being ragged rotten around a track. The 350Z by comparison is not perfection personified, but by heck its got a lot more driving character and a lot of grin factor.
The award for the most boring car I've owned is a close call between a 1977 Vauxhall Viva and a 1987 Ford Sierra Sapphire. Bloody awful cars inflicted upon me by the missus of that time. Thankfully none of those three are part of my life any more and have not been for a considerable time.....and I did keep my MGA thoughout it, which retained my sanity.
Plenty of jelly handling, underpowered, bland, boring rubbish driven as fleet cars but, thankfully, never owned. Nor will be. Ever....

I had a BMW 335 I got bored of it for pretty much the same reasons as yourself ! A German car that was so good it was boring apart from the crappy manual box , sold it and bought a Clio 182 , much more like it ! French rubbish but full of character Performance? Very good performance, more than adequate, to the point of boredom.

Not actually owned but a Citroen AX 1.4 Diesel I borrowed off my sister when my XR3i was off the road. Oh dear Lord what a slow, dull, boring machine that was. I was pulling out of junctions then remembering it wasn't the XR3i, I p****d a fair few people off! My sis got a Clio so sold the AX to the next door neighbours son who had it a week and blew it up!

1993 Escort RS2000, brand new out of the showroom, poor performance, poor looks, and wheels that started to de lacquer after 5 months of ownership.
Also the bonnet was re sprayed due to a YTS mechanic closing the bonnet and leaving two palm print indentations!?!?
As I picked it up in the dark I didn't see this until the next day when I noticed overspray all over the near side lights and alloy.
I used to have a 1992 model got it a few years old it had a magnex exhaust and K&N filter on it and I loved the noise it made and I loved the recaro seats too and had it for around three years...I liked it that much I nearly bought another last year and took it for a drive and it flooded the memories back. I am really enjoying this thread as it just shows how we all see cars differently.
