I just insured my bike with Flux. Very impressed with the service and the level of cover. £138 comp with comp cover when riding other bikes too!

It was also nice to find an insurer that

a) was able to discuss mods and sound like they knew what a caliper or master cylinder is
b) was able to quote including those mods without saying they needed to speak to someone else, promising to call back then failing to do so rolleyes
Thanks for the kind comments.

They sure dont seem interested in insuring me,

called them at 10, got put through to a voicemail

called them at 11ish , got through, asked for a call back to me which they promised , nothing.

Sent email to pistonheads@adrainflux asking for them to contact me, nothing.

Hi,

I'm sorry you feel we are not interested in insuring you.
That is not the case.

We have had some technical issues and as a result of it we have had a backlog of callbacks which we are working through at the moment.

Hi,

We might have had a rate increase which could explain it or maybe there had been a change in details that also could explain it.
Without looking at the file i can not explain the exact reason why.

Can you advise why some caterhams seem to be under your classic policy (although only 5 years old) which doesn't seem to attract a NCB, and some are under your Kit Car policy, which does?

originally wasn't able to get remotely reasonable insurance quote on the viper with other companies as was under 30yrs old. since then, have stuck with AF after having completed the insurance discounting (-25%) ridedrive course last year. will i be able to take advantage of a further 15% discount on next renewal i wonder?? cheers

Hi,

It just depends on each individual risk. We have several schemes some are NCB rated and some are not. It doesn't necessarily have to be a really old vehicle to fit a classic style policy.

Hi,

If you PM me your Client Ref I can make a note on your file that you are a member of the Forum then upon renewal we can apply up to 15% discount.

I just tried to get a quote on an Alfa from Flux and the chap on the end of the line hung up on me confused

Not only that but he was not exactly what you would call a warm welcoming bloke looking to help me out. Its a shame really because Flux quoted a good price on a Fiat coupe a while back. Very good service back then. Why the sudden dip?

Hi,

It certainly is not our intention to put the phone down on potential clients.
If you would like to email me your contact details I can arrange a callback for you.

Dan, this is going to be a long shot!

I will be doing Truck driving for a team running some cars in the Caterham championship. At present I am 24, despite being a proffesional(class 1) driver by trade, other insurance companies will not touch me until I am 25 (mid-june).

Would Flux do a policy on a 7.5 tonne truck? Or do you have a truck specialist affiliate company that could help me out with this?

Cheers.

Dan,

I rang Flux earlier to get a quote on a BMW E28 528i. I was fairly surprised for it to come out higher than anything on confused.com, what with Flux being specialist/classic brokers!

I didn't realise their was a PH discount though, would it be possible to get someone to phone me back to discuss it? I'll PM you my number.

Cheers,
Shirt.

It seems fairly obvious now that this 'discount' scheme is little more than a referral kickback scheme to Haymarket - and there is no real discount off of any premium.

Even more so when you search around and see Flux offer this same deal to anyone and everyone.

I've found Adrian Flux to be very hit and miss, when they want my business they will hack the premium to bits, when they don't I suddenly work in a high risk industry and they won't insure me.

My thinking was that if they didn't want my money, they won't get it. Admiral have always been really good, prices generally about the same, and not based on some random calculator some other places seem to use...

what i don't get is why one insurer is cheaper than the others by £1-200 one year and a similar amount more expensive than them the next. when rang for a renewal they then can;t come near the new price despite noone being able to touch them the year before. i have never been with an insurer more than 12mths because of this.
