But then it's all subjective, what's to say ANY euro golf is a decent modification?

What we need is a PH definition of decently modified.
No, what is needed on PH is a bit more acceptance that just because someone doesn't have identical taste in vehicles to yourself that it brands them as some sort of lesser car enthusiast.

It think quite a few cars that are posted about on PH and owned by it's members are bags of absolute ste purchased purely status symbol merits, I just choose not to try and belittle them because of it.

That's a bit PC.

If we all had that view, how would we ever know what was decently modified?

In fact it's attitudes like that which lead to some of the monstrosities seen in your local McDonald's car park on a Sunday night.

And they no doubt have to turn to crime to pay for these horrible mods.

So in effect, it's that sort of attitude which is ruining the nation!

LMAO you sound like a.. erm... pistonheader, careful I'll start shouting "daily mail" or summink next tongue out

My flouncy definition of "decently modified":

where the true complexity of the engineering involved in the modifications are not instantly apparent, and yet are easily recognisable.

That volvo is a prime example. The workmanship in it is phenomenal. Another example, a friend from years back had a baja bug that they'd hand made - no fibreglass panels, all steel, lead filled, it wasn't exactly to my taste but the engineering excellence that had gone into to turned me green with envy.

Which is why for me a plastic bolt on and bodyfiller bodykitted car in mcdonalds will never be "decently modified", yet I wouldn't discount the style as having possible merit.

None of the cars on this thread are hardly Mcdonalds esque... The Polo, I like too - what's wrong with changing the aesthetics if you like them?

I'm sure some would argue how pointless sticking a V6 in an MR2 when you could have bought something more capable for the outlay.

Oh, and people who say stuff like 'Piston heads is changing for the worse' etc is quite annoying. Generations change, as do interests, if you don't like it, there's no need to log in. What is exactly wrong with the 'Euro scene' anyway? Knowing a few people who are into it they certainly are not Chavs. They have meets/shows etc like any other petrol heads would. You don't have to love 'TVR racecars' to be into cars.

And as for that absolute twunt that said a Mine's Skyline is a bit of Chav tat. Look up the specs, and what they are made for. It is a serious machine built for time attacks over in Japan, costing in excess of over 100k. If you see one in Maccies carpark, I'll come to your house and kiss your feet.

Exactly. The beauty with PH is that we have largely the same tastes - sometimes, however, there are a few extremes which deviate from this.

Variety is the spice of life etc and all objections and sparring is taken in largely good humour.

Isn't it?

Woah, calm down Dan, it's only banter. Notice the sticky out tongue at the end!

Would you rather have a Mine's Skyline or a Tuscan Race car? (Username not withstanding)

I think that's a poll we should have and see what the new demographic of PH is now.

Sorry mate!

And honestly?

A Mine's Skyline, every single time.

I know which would be quicker around a track. wink

And there's why it's subjective. I think i'd find myself dreaming about the noise a TRC made, coming out of a corner under load more than the lap time the Skyline posted.

That would be me and if you read further down from what I originally posted, you would see that I gave respect to what the car is built for. However it is my personal opinion that Skylines look absalutely CRAP, including the new GTR. This isn't disrespecting the engineering behind the car, as that is an achievement. But I can't help but dislike them when I think of a spotty faced chav at mc donalds saying, "yeah mate that car is sick as fk".

Pistonheads should dish out ASBOs to chavs or just fkwhits who think a car with a bodykit is better than sliced bread
Is this the most ironic post in the world when in your profile you list the saxosport club as your website nuts

We all like different cars fella and your in no position to call people fkwits or chavs.

my submission as an example. I know plenty of people here will hate it purely because it's "a dub" and therefore not meet their exacting requirements of being "not a dub" before ridiculing becomes an automated procedure.

For anyone with half a brain, or indeed the slightest amount of bodyworking skills, will know just how much effort goes into creating a roof chop that actually works, amongst the other skills needed to pull off a vehicle like this.

Might not look too impressive (Although I like it) but the stats are:

It is powered by a Brabus SV12 R Biturbo 800 twelve-cylinder displacement engine that produces 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW of power and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). Brabus offers this high-performance automobile capable of reaching speeds in excess of 370 km/h (230 mph) starting at 478,000 Euros MSRP.

Worlds fastest GT car, apparently.

Your idea is hugely flawed in that the Mines Skyline has always been well regarded on PH so if anything the % that would vote for it would be less than the votes it would have had five years ago.
Not flawed at all. Although the Skyline above is well regarded, and this i already mentioned, i'm wondering if it now has MORE of a following than say for example the TRC?

So has PH shifted to that side of things now, has it "evolved"?

So is decently modified, what makes the masses happy?

Is PH now the masses, or are we those boring folk that talk about cars on a forum?

Personally I'd say a decently modified car is what makes you happy, seems a little bit sad to base your own likes/dislikes on what the masses like...
