The most unfunny statement from the most unfunny clip HTH.

As for the VXR being faster than an M5 it is, until it gets to a corner.

I always find those sections they do highlighting understeer funny, if you were to drive a relatively good FWD in the same manner the result would be identical.

Me and my Dad test drove a Vectra SRi a few years ago, it was terrible, the worst part was the low rent interior, my sisters old Micra had higher quality plastics. I personally would never buy one, no matter how fast it is.
What if the interior was different (i.e better) as has been suggested in this thread?
They're pretty similar

I drove one before I bought my MPS. Decent engine, steering lacked feel, poor traction and the standard fit Vauxhall rubbery gearchange and out-of-phase rebound and compression damping. Not my cup of tea.

The program featured another FWD car, it had no such problems wink

and evo rates it..I just added the link because it was about VXR and clarkson 'loves' vectra's..

Seriously I think this car is more autobarn stormer and hopefully underrated in this country, this making it a used car bargain..

I had an estate. Did 30k miles in about a year.
Really enjoyed it,most people seemed to like it too.
It was well equipped, pretty fast, 27 mpg ave and very tunable.
Oh and it sounded great.

Fair point, I should stop taking people at their word. That is pretty drab.

At least you know the extra money for the VXR goes on the engine then...

IMO they offer fantastic VFM to buy used, but image is dubious, running costs are high and the exhaust is boomy in a way that would grate even a dedicated pistonhead in daily use. Understeer is also dreadful on the limit, but that's no surprise from a front heavy FWD vehicle running nigh on 300BHP.

275bhp isn't it? It registered as it was only in 1994 that a V8 Trans Am was producing the same figure so not to be sniffed at. That was rear wheel drive of course.

I drove a vectra Vxr at the thruxton vxr trackday a couple of years back. I thought it was surprisingly good. I did have to use liberal helpings of handbrake to help with the understeer problem on the limit however ( much to the amusement of the chappy sat next to me). hehe

Sorry, I don't understand. Why would you be using the handbrake at the limit (assuming you're going around the quick sections at Thruxton?)?

The chappy sat next to you might not have been laughing with you...

Not so much the quick bits, more the club chicane.

Oh and have these for good measure

Does it bring back good memories for you?

how about this one

Just in case anyone isn't aware, this idiot caused a really nasty accident in which a motorcyclist was severely injured, by driving like a , which he got locked up for. Now he spends all his time on PH criticising other peoples driving. rolleyes

Yes, I did have an accident. It wasn't down to oily ice, though. Definately not oily ice. No, it was down to me driving too close to the limit on the road. My fault. Not the oily ice.

Shame you didn't get locked up when you crashed, would have saved us from your pointless ramblings here.
