Who's ticked AN Other?
Was that for being a self employed accident managment consultant biggrin
You do know that three of the companies you've quoted are the same company operating under different brands don't you?

Of course it is.rolleyes

After all who challenge the validity of a poll with 25 responses from a potential pool of 30million motorists. I take it statistics and validity of sampling aren't your forte

If so, then for the results to be valid, you'll need to find out how many have experience of each company too, so that you can assess the satisfaction levels compared to overall usage. Comparisons like this don't work.

I'm surprised the insurer referred AMCs dont have higher numbers, as someone had posted that referral is almost automatic.
The results are valid within the limits of the poll question

Then you're assuming that people are aware that they are being referred to one. Successful outsourcers operate as a branded wing of their client so that service is seamless. You're not overly aware commercially are you?

You mean when you get phoned up by someone saying 'about your accident/claim, I'm from <insert your insurer> assistance'
Customers may have a tad more nonce than theyre given credit

Quoted because it's brilliant.
I'm my mind it says something when the Insurance companies think something money making is out of order and should be banned/regulated.

When you have an accident you need a car to replace yours whilst its fixed, you need compensation for your lost earnings and any injury. You don't need a Z4 at £500 a day whilst they sit on your car at their accident repair centre which has an abnormally large car park....

Grow up. There are many more insurers who do hot hand offs, or even arrange it themselves and then pass on the details to the provider so that a car is delivered where & when needed and the damaged one collected, repaired & returned to where the custoemr wants. You really struggle to see that one instance of something happening once isn't a trend or representative of the wider picture don't you?

Well if heaven forbid I have an accident I wont be fking dealing with a management company.

I know someone who had a mini clubman for 7 weeks through the local mini's 'approved management company' to replace a tyre/alloy and trim strip.

They said it was alright as the other driver would be paying... asked why it was taking too long 'availability of parts'.
Right.
Thats why there's this poll smile

Good job they won't charge £500 a day for a Z4 then, isn't it.

The Association of British Insurers and most of the credit hire companies are signatories to an agreement on cost. Most credit hire companies follow this - and charges above this are usually disputed in court.

A Z4 is nowhere near £500 a day.

Why make things up to prove a point?

ABI GTA maximum per day charges are:

A 2.5 Z4 is £216.05
A 2.5 Z4 is £242.24
A 2.5 Z4 is £294.60

If any innocent TP contacts the other sides insurers, then they should be able to source the identical car for under £100 per day, so an average 18 day repair could mean a saving of between £2000 to £3500. Add that up over some of the claims in the UK on an annual basis and it makes quite a tidy sum being unnecessarilly added to the cost of our insurance.

Edit: £500 per day can still be charged if the AMC is not subscribed to the ABI Gta

Because it shows my point in sharp relief.
I listened to an ABI spokespoerson on Radio 4 talk about this issue. Her primary points were that ACcident 'Management' Companies charge inflated rates for vehicle hire, and then apply pressure to garages to delay repairs to extend the period of hire. There were also question marks hanging over how they obtain data in some cases. The ABI is lobbying for them to be regulated, which as I said speaks volumes IMO. They of course also persue people to follow up personal injury claims. I had such a cold call last week, I haven't been in a car accident for 5 years.

In my opinion, if you need a replacement car any car will do to keep you mobile. I'd rather have a KIA pride if it meant my insurance was 10% cheaper. These companies are leeches and need regulating, fast. I'll assume for now that anyone who pays for insurance agrees with me.

We had our X-Trail driven into a couple of weeks ago, I was collecting the race car at the time and the car was parked on the street, some woman reversed out of a driveway into the car.

Initially I was going to get the repair done locally at the other party's cost (as requested by her husband) as it was a damaged bumper, light washer and lens, but no repair company would quote for less than £1200 and all of them said that price depended on them not finding anything else underneath.

The third party wasn't keen on depositing £2k in my account on the off chance the repairer found something else, and I wasn't keen on being out of pocket through no fault of my own so I went through insurance, who immediately (and before I had chance to refuse) put me on to an AMC.

Long story short, we were offered a 4x4 in replacement but it's mainly my wife's car and the only need we have for it's capacity is when I'm towing the race car (I'm not racing until July). So I requested a small family car, big enough to get the baby in the back and shopping in the boot. We received an Astra 1.6 yesterday. Not a great car, but enough for us to use while ours is repaired - cost to the other party? £55 a day, hardly unreasonable I thought, considering the X-Trail is a couple of months old.

I'd never have used them previously, but everything was done from home (X-Trail picked up, hire car delivered) and since the alternative was running about the place through no fault of my own, I don't mind using them, but I'll reserve judgement until we get the X-Trail back.....
