How different is the R from a regular NSX? And what sort of money would a normal NSX of the same vintage/condition cost?

Don't know about the minutiae of the differences, but this one is £23k, at similar miles, but a couple of years older...
Umm, unique or not I think for double the money you'd have to really want the R.

Hope someone does though, would be quite sad to see such a car be exported seeing as it is so rare.

I would take a punt that buying that is like buying a "horrendously overpriced" 2.7RS or M3 Sport Evo a few years ago.

i.e. a bargain.

Would be inclined to agree with you on that. You need so see one of these up close to appreciate just what a special thing they are. Bearing in mind too that within the car's DNA is a lot of development input from Ayrton Senna, I can see these things becoming more and more coveted.

I'm sure that at the time a lot of BMW 3.0 CSi buyers couldn't see the point in a 3.0 CSL...

£45k?

That sounds like a conspicuous bargain to me. Look at which cars appreciate in value as they get older: it's the ones that are rare, special, important, cult, or have celebrity association. The NSX is not a common car and the NSX-R is like hen's teeth. It was Japan's first (only, until the LFA?) true supercar. It gave Ferrari a bloody nose and made them move from the slightly-complacent 348 towards the crazy 430/458 level they're at now. No other car says "I know exactly what this is" like one and few other cars inspire such respect from fellow petrolists. And on the celebrity side... some Brazilian bloke with dodgy shoes drove one, I hear.

I wish my numbers had come in, I'd be on the phone right now.

Nice shed.

A bit over the £1k budget though isn't it?

Or is this Shed Of The Year and you've saved up your £1k a week budget?

Lovely car, but at least 10 grand over priced.

I didn't realise there was a mk1 and mk2 Type R NSX...

I'd love to have a drive of this (any NSX in fact) just to see what all the fuss was about. Given it was a game changer and much better than the contemporary Ferrari 348 I'd imagine it was pretty special!

It's double the price of a normal NSX of that vintage. That's far more of a premium than say an M3 to an M3CSL, or a 348 TB to GTB. Furthermore rare BMWs and Ferraris are far more in demand in the UK than classic Japanese cars. Sorry but I can't see how its worth 45k.

Most people commenting about the price, have absolutely no idea what they are even talking about.

8k, are you having a laugh! You cant even buy a good standard 91 auto NSX for that money, infact salvage NSX's and CAT D and C cars sell for £8k and more.

At £45k, that car is a bargain, to import a similar car today would cost around £55k and up!

At 45k I'd rather have a Ferrari.

Is there anything that REALLY differentiates it from lesser modela of NSX's, like maybe bespoke body construction, or bespoke engine?

To me, its just another version with a few minor changes. Yes, I think its a good car, but I dont think its unique enough.

I wouldnt say its an 8k car, because I'm sure it has inherent value above that. But I WOULD buy a different 8K car and be just as happy, eg a Lexus LS430 to appreciate the technology, or maybe an Impreza or EVO to appreciate speed.

But at 45k, it just does nothing for me.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more unique car in the UK!!

The rest of the post about a lexus and an EVO is completely missing the point

Sorry but 45K for a 3.0 NSX is just too much IMO. Sacrilege I know but a later car with a few mods would be a far better proposition for most people. It’s a shame HUK didn't import them in the first place.

The main issue is the one you highlighted, anyone who doesn't 'get' the NSX is hardly likely to understand the more expensive version despite the changes for the Type R.

I spotted this in classified the day before yesterday. I was keeping quiet pending my Euro Millions victory on Friday. Thanks a bunch PH rolleyes I reckon there'll be a queue at nationofzeroes' door at that price.

My absolute holy grail car. When I first saw the ad I had a few crazy actually minutes wondering if there is enough equity in my house to finance a purchase, I want one that badly.

This one has been maintained by the legendary Kaz. I challenge anybody to find a mechanic who puts as much attention to detail into maintaining cars as he does. His knowledge of the nsx is astounding. His blog on nsxcb is well worth a read.
