Would be a perfect cue for the missis to stick the dinner on!
My downpipe recently detatched itself from the rest of the exhaust, you want to buy my car? hehe

To be fair, loud engines in the middle of the night are a pain in the arse, be it a Ferrari or a Moped, suspect there is a certain amount of Daily Mail style hysteria and crap reporting but if this is happening it is pretty anti social and dangerous.

It doesnt always go well, ask Ronaldo !

I'm a brainless, mindless thug. And so are the 40+ other PHers who joined in on our tunnel run last month frown

I'm going to sell my car and buy a Prius to keep triple bypass (6 years ago) Mr Broadhurst happy.

Actually a 599 would probably get close to 200. Not sure it could stop at the end though hehe
Nope, would need something very, very serious to hit 200 in 1.2 miles (just take a look at the VMax results and VMax is longer). Jamie Ps Supra might do it.

I found an estimate of 186 after a mile, so it would definitely count as 'close' hehe

Assuming the estimate is right!

How long before they introduce average speed cameras then??

Wait until some numpty has a crash and it will be classed as an accident blackspot and then hey presto, another set of cameras.

The tunnel has to be paid for somehow.
They have them, but you often see cars literally stopping in the road just after/before the cameras

Hopefully people will get bored of it soon enough. As much as petrolheads have the right to enjoy their cars, it must get tedious for locals who find themselves suddenly in a playground. Fairness is in balance, not being polarised one way or another.

Telegraph link not working for me though. Are they not calling these Ferarri, Aston Martin & Lamborghini drivers 'boy racers' like the original article? That did make me chuckle...

Can any Ferraris, Lamborghinis or Aston Martins could get up to 200mph in 1.2 miles?

The bypass is intended to improve road safety, reduce congestion and improve air quality.
Surely air that is reverberating to the sound of a Ferrari engine is improved in quality? earscloud9

So he's used to the noise of people accelerating out of Hindhead onto the old dual carriageway, presumably. NIMBY.
Whilst I agree this guy is a bit of a moaner, somehow I doubt there was quite so many noisy sportscars 'enjoying' the old dual carriageway.

Using the tunnel in this manner blatantly does have some impact on local residents.
Quite agree. I don't see what the fuss is about (the fuss about the people complaining, that is) - cars can get fking loud, especially bassy-exhausted ones driven hard, and it can be annoying late at night.

As I'm going to sleep, there are often angry exhaust noises from the peak district echoing through my window. I don't object much (it's not every night, and each one doesn't last for too long), but it's sometimes kind of annoying. Can't imagine what it would be like right outside your window, if not every night then certainly on a pretty regular basis - but I could imagine it would be a real pain in the arse.

Hope they didn't fit a tunnel when they did his bypass...
