I'm sure I read in EVO that it's Porche's second best selling model, behind the Cayenne (depressingly...).
I'd be quite surprised if it out-sells the Boxster, at least in the UK.
...and the 911. Just think how often you see one vs the Panamera.
They're probably all in China.
You're not wrong there. When I was out in Hong Kong before xmas there were lots!

I definitely see more Panameras than 911s made since the Panamera was released. But massively more Boxsters than either.
They must of sold them all in Hampshire then smile Just checked the how many are left website and sales of Panameras last couple of years are in the 100s, 911s in the 1000s.

I suppose it's possible I just don't notice the hordes of 911s on the road, but the Panamera stands out because it's so ugly. hehe

Probably is something to do with the area though - I see quite a few R-classes and 5-series GTs around here too, and I've never seen many elsewhere.

Just when you thought Porsches couldn't get uglier...........................I REALLY don't understand why people buy them now.

I did a quick sketch of a Panamera with the boot from a Cayenne on and I think it looks pretty good, but I am ready to be shot down in flames.

Lets be honest.

ANYTHING Porsche do to the Panamera will be an improvement.

I have one in the car park near my office and its just so frickin ugly the scabby Reliant scimitar next to it looks stunning.

I'd call the current car a large hatchback.

They seem to be jumping on a few band-wagons (Performance SUVs, 4-door Sportscars, Hybrids, now Shooting Brakes)... But think the Panamera could actually transfer quite well to an estate. Personally I think it would have more appeal in that form.

It's come up before (in the CLS shooting brake thread) but the true definition of a shooting brake is a two door estate (a la Ferrari FF). So neither the CLS nor this planned Panamera are true shooting brakes. But, they are based on 'four door coupes', a new concept apparently, so these are four door shooting brakes.

Otherwise known as estates.

Tell me if I'm being a bit dim, but does the term 'Shooting Brake' refer to an open horse-drawn carriage with four wheels, or a weekend break (note the spelling)in the country shooting at stuff?

I don't get the Porsche Pan thing at all either; fugly as you like; and now they want to make an estate car...go figure...I wonder when the Porsche pick up truck will be anounced???
I guess what Porsche et al are trying to do is open up a market sector (wife, three kids and a dog) that can't be served by a normal sportscar????
Tch, yeah, Porsche eh? WTF do they know.

Although they do sell >60,000 four doored, high margin, cars every year.

It's a stupid phrase but is obviously the in thing for the marketing departments at the moment.
