As far as I am aware, it's only a small batch of cars that were going to be used for the Olympics.
But the Olympic fleet had CO2 requirements of under 130g/km so how could they use a 640d?

I also dont get this deal, who would want a 640d but only be able to do 8k a year in it? Its entire point is to cover epic distances in supreme comfort with fantastic tank range.

Well it's not even too bad on the excess miles v's depreciation, £2791 per 10k, it's tempting for those where you hcan have anything as long as its diesel..... As I've had before.

Do the quote on a petrol one, wonder how much the payments jump due to the lack of residual value in comparison.

Yes the point of diesel is to save money on fuel however the reality is to lease they are cheaper on the payments and also cheaper to run for the 8-10k per year hence why they sell so well.

BMW did a daft least deal on the Z4 2.0 M Sport last year, was 199 a month on a personal contract hire, even I was tempted for that and the amount of white m sport Z4's that appeared in my area was shocking so it worked, albeit they are all limited to 6k per year unless they upped it from the start!

'Cheaper to run' for 8k a year is totally irrelevent - it uses a bit less fuel, which for the sort of person buying this is nothing. The reason why they sell so well (Do they? They seem quite rare) is because almost all of them are leased/bought as company cars where BIK is everything. Few of the sort of people buying these are that bothered about fuel, but they are very bothered about BIK.

I have been looking for a 640d and I have to say I cannot find anymore the crazy deals mentioned above. The cheapest one I can find is at 529 (plus VAT) on a 6+30 (strange, not 36) deal, it is the SE version obviously and yes on 8k miles per year only!
http://www.carleaseplanet.co.uk/business-leasing/b...

I hope the old deals will come back at some point, although the best deals I have found recently are on Mercedes and not BMWs, it seems that BMWs don't have particularly good leases (comparing RRP of the cars).

For those asking why a diesel for low mileage, I'd imagine that due to depreciation there's no way that they could afford to offer a petrol at that price.

It seems that it was only done for a limited number of cars. It would be nice to have a thread where these kind of car lease deals are immediately "shared" in order for pistonheads users to take advantage of them. Too many times I have found a good deal on the net, and when I called the leasing company I was told that they just finished stock and the new prices would come out next week, which were invariably higher.

Maybe if you try going back in time to September you'll find it

I would imagine manufacturers from time to time have a glut of a particular model that they want to get rid of quickly or a need to put volume of it into the market place for one reason or another. In that sense the supply is likely to be limited.
