that's just fabulous. Makes the really awkward Ferrari 456 one seem quite easy to use

Legendary. Imagine the sign-off meeting: "We want to make it hard for the driver to change station."

Indeed. I have a remote for mine, and it also has a mike for handsfree calling.

I have no idea why. Over 40mph and I can't hear a damn thing.

biggrin was probably the best standard fit unit

The likes of gembella in the 80s would do all sorts of hifi instalations though, how about a small TV and video unit in your wide body 6 series.

Or you can never have enough graphics equalizers

You'd have more fun driving and listening to all of the cars pictured in the OP than listening to those stereos so I can understand them being an afterthought. Radio 5 for the traffic bulletins on low and off you go!

Old Range Rovers and Hondas, where the stereo is near the drivers door.

This is the book I had (Have? Must be somewhere!) - it contained plenty of very 80s awesomeness much like the above!

Must have been on plenty of PHers bookshelves?

I saw an advert for an E28 M5 about 6 - 7 years ago with a VCR mounted on the rear parcel shelf behind the rear seats.

Caterham did a very limited edition that had a radio in the dashboard.

Which itself was stupid enough, but the weird thing was that it was standard equipment! From a company that charges extra for such luxuries as paint, and windscreens.

original Land Rover Discovery. Radio was in such place that most drivers had little chance to get it easily

Does it come with a free mirror that you can place on the gearstick to work out what channel you are tuned to?
