Insurance company issue
Discussion
Hope you manage to get a satisfactory outcome to this.
I've used Flux a few times and they're never even slightly close on price compared to other big names. Call centre staff a rude etc.. I don't even bother with them now, and also make a point of telling anyone who'll listen to go with someone else. They don't deserve to be in business.

As brokers, I doubt they will be able to reinstate a policy once cancelled.
They could, of course, pay the insurer themselves for a new policy asa gesture of goodwill damage limitation.
Glad this thread hasn't been infested by the PH Sneering Brigade I encountered in another insurance grumble.

Wow, on reading the OP I thought it would be an admin error, 2 policy numbers, AF cancels one leaving the other in force, but to cancel a policy because of a photocopy of a named driver is, err, not on.
I cannot recall ever being asked for a copy of my license, or even proof of NCB, just a 'do you have documented evidence of your NCB?', 'yes', 'good'.
Surely you having a valid license to drive is a material fact, so if you told porkies when taking out the insurance they would be covered in the event of a claim that you withheld a material fact so wouldn't have to pay out - so where is the problem in waiting for the license?
It is my understanding that you remain insured if you are in possession of the certificate, that it must be returned or declared destroyed for the insurance to cease - however, my understanding will be of little use if you're stopped for no insurance without doing the legal research first.
Anyhooo, good luck and AF removed from my renewal list in future unless they come up with a blinder of an apology to you guys.
Good luck.
PS. Have you checked askmid for the vehicles' current status?

Classy.
As previously stated, the 'calls recorded for training purposes' have probably all become mysteriously inaccessible![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
I had a similar situation (not cancelling a policy but incorrect details) to which I was willing to pull the plug on the policy, within the 14 days cooking off period. I rung the insurance company named after a hig up naval officer who said 'we'll review the tapes.'As previously stated, the 'calls recorded for training purposes' have probably all become mysteriously inaccessible
![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
About 40 minutes later I had this kind woman ring me back apologising profusely for the mistake and rightly corrected the error that would've costed over £100 extra on my premium. Sometimes the tapes are worthwhile!
This just seems way out of order! My brother was with Adrian Flux and also had to jump through hoops to provide copies of licence and registration document as I let him use the fax machine in my office..
I'm with Sky Insurance, they also wanted my licence.. mine was lost/stolen at the time so I couldn't provide, they put a note on file and stated that if the vehicle was subject to any claim that they wouldn't be willing to process it until sight of licence..
I am still insured now.. I love Sky Insurance even if they weren't the cheapest.

I had to cancel a policy with Adrian Flux after only four weeks...
Bought a new car, increase from group 7 to group 14, approx double the value, phoned them up to inform and expected a slight bump in premium, almost fell over when the woman on the phone told me they wanted an extra £600 on top of £300 already paid, ended up cheaper to cancel the policy and take out another new policy with another insurer, for less than AF's renewal price...
How much did we get back? £140... For less than one month's insurance, presumably the first month is over eleven times as costly as the rest of the policy...
Lesson learned, despite all the BS they spout, being the driver's insurer and their customer service, they are probably the worst insurance company I've dealt with
Won't be touching them again...

After reading this thread, I am not surprised at the company or the incompetence of them. I tried to insure my Metro VVC through them, they wanted 2k and copies of engineers reports(I got sarcastic and pointed out that an engineer isn't a protected title and so any idiot could claim to be one without any knowledge at all) as well as a bunch of other paperwork like the V5 etc.
I got a quote of Brentacre(VERY good and cheap company btw) for £750 fully comp and all modifications were listed on the car with no extra charges if I wanted a cage or anything else unless it made more power from the engine.

Today is 29th November 2012. Your letter states my insurance was cancelled on 27th November 2012. I have, therefore, been driving my car illegally for two days with NO knowledge of such.
No you haventThe regs refer to the 'taking effect' of the cancellation
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/sectio...
See 4D.
Once you have taken effect you have 7 days to return the certificate
Weve discussed before that only once youve returned it ( or can confirm its lost) are you no longer on risk.
Unless it can be shown that contract law takes precedence
