RE: Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R: Spotted
Discussion
I remember a PHer who went from an Evo to a standard R34 was very disappointed with the Nissan, said it didn't feel quick, nor did it seem to handle that well, and ended up in another Evo.
From what I've read, the reality never lived up to the hype with these things, unless you tuned the hell out of it, which of course, most people who get them do.
I'll take the proper GT-R, I agree with the others, the R34 hasn't aged well.

I love the R34, but given the choice over a perfect R34 or R32 I would go for the R32. Also that garage in Japan has a M Spec Nur edition with 19,000km on it for sale for £47k. Think I would go for that over the R34 in the OP.

Standard R34's arent that quick , hence so many are modified but they are so much nicer and better built than Evo's
its funny how a car that can get to 60 in about 5secs and top 150mph isn't deemed that quick...i think its more because you can get sooo much more power out of them for not much money that in standard form they are thought of as "not that quick".still wish i had my R33 , it was a great car, roomy, quick, fab in the wet ...don't think i'd pay £50k for an R34 though.

'iconic cars'? Discuss...
I think so - to a certain generation.Much like one of the posters above, I spent hours upon hours on the Gran Turismo games with these things (and a bunch of other cars, anyone remember the Escudo Pikes Peak in GT2?).
Prefer them stock, mind you, which is a rarity these days.

1666kg? I didn't think they were that heavy. The R35 must be A LOT faster.
R35 is also heavier. But I'd have R34 over R35 (not that I'm ever going to have that dilemma) for 2 reasons - looks and manual box.
That aside, 50k is a bit much for V-Spec 2. I'd expect Nur, S-Tune or something like that to command that kind of money.

Not that quick when compared to an Evo , the 1999 Evo 6 hits 60 in 4.4 secs still wish i had my R33 , it was a great car, roomy, quick, fab in the wet ...don't think i'd pay £50k for an R34 though.
The 34 is a big heavy GT car but its a great GT car!
The R34 is the car that really captured my attention back in the day and as a result I would probably go for that rather than the R35, however as people have mentioned its a huge shame it isnt Bayside Blue as that is the icing on a dream car cake.
I'm sure its not as good as the R35 but thats not the point for me, as I'm sure its a better car than I would require if you know what I mean.
