Lovely looking thing, and an appropriate badge for a 'warm hatch'. Of course, it's only 'warm' because our definition of 'hot' has been stretched by the spate of 'super hatches' with the sort of performance that used to be the preserve of Boxsters and the like.

A good looking car tho, really like this and the 'underdog' status gives it more appeal i think

You don't quite grasp the concept of a hot hatch do you?

Love the look of this car and Kia as a brand but how is this GT not faster?

Over 200bhp combined with a reasonable torque figure of 195 lbt-ft, it must weigh a fair bit. I know its not all about 0-60 times etc so maybe its mid range is better, but still.....?

Never thought I'd find myself actually feeling a degree of want for a KIA.

Looks good, well set up chassis-wise, quick enough to be fun, and costs less than £20k. Forget the stupid warranty, it seems like a genuinely decent bit of kit.

The 7 year warrenty isnt worth the paper it was written on. I bought a new Picanto for my other half. 5 days later it decided to take itself for a drive. It ended up in the crash barriers at the bottom of the road with the handbrake still on and still in reverse gear. The gaurantee only covered the faulty parts but not the damage caused.

If you want to save yourself a load of hassle and expense, then spend a few more pennies and buy European or Japanese.
Well.. yeah. A warranty isn't insurance.

I like them in mine, near impossible to spot something on the back seat in the dark, in case I've forgot my jacket/laptop in there.

Must just be my super-entitled kids then...

A 400-mile journey with two babies/toddlers is made a lot easier if they don't get blinded/woken-up by low sun when turning corners.

We didn't have tints, sun blinds or even sunglasses in the back of the Cortina etc. when I was a lad and I managed to survive, but I'm sure I must've done some moaning about it.

Having said that, neither did we get driven everywhere and have aircon, sunscreen, child locks, stair gates, helmets on our bikes etc. - times change.

It looks good and keeps a car interior cool. Have privacy tint plus matching tinr on the front. Never owned a car I didn't tint the windows on.

Regular 35c days here might be a reason for that...

rear only tints just look so st. I'd be embarrased to have them tbh.... no discernable benefit at all.
Internal roller blinds far better for shielding delicate eyes....clearly kids that sit in the front just have to suffer hehe
Using your brain far better for avoiding theft from cars...
That or tint all the glass to a legal level...

Hown long before some nice self tinting side/rear glass when exposed to extreme sun light? that'd sort it nicley....I'm surprised a Rolls or MB S class hasn't done that yet...

This has some appeal to it. Surprised myself how much I enjoyed caning a previous model pro-cee'd through the highlands and skye for a weekend last year despite it only being a 1.6 diesel. I think this will prove much more entertaining than most would expect.
You don't need 300 BHP in a hot hatch.

They do look a bit odd on lighter coloured cars I admit.

...and make the darker cars look like vans...anyway I've derailed this thread enough.

I'm looking forward to seeing these in the flesh....I have a Kia dealership not far from me...drive past it regularly, so it shouldn't be long.

It's a good looking car! I'd have thought the 0-60 figures would have been slightly better than reported??

To be honest IMO the only way Kia have sold in the past is for 2 reasons. They were cheaper than the competition & offered a much longer warranty. But now days, they are priced in the same region as the competition and more manufactures are offering warranties that are very similar (thinking of vauxhall's "lifetime warranty")

They are loosing their edge in the market. For £20k in a new warm/hot hatch market the choice is very good at the moment! 3yrs down the road, they may be a very good buy imo!

It actually looks quite good from the front. As good as a modern car can look, I suppose. The glass line is also quite tidy, and disguises those slab sided doors to some degree, though the slab sided look is another 'innovation' that is here to stay.

The Cossie weighs a lot less @ 1217 kg

Cee'd not sure but must be at least 1500 kg
The "non-GT" 1.6 Cee'd is under 1300kg. I doubt this'll be quite 1500. Maybe 1350 with no options.
Its performance figures are still poor. An E46 325 with less hp and less torque is quicker, even though it weighs about 150kg more.

The GT86 was the same; I don't get it.
