Hyundai Veloster
Discussion
I've driven two at work (albeit fairly briefly) and wasn't blown away by the interior. It's a bit of a rip off of a new Focus/Fiesta interior but the quality leaves a little to be desired.. steering felt a little life less and the exterior styling is a bit marmite. Bit awkward looking in my opinion.
Fairly uncommon though and I can see what they were trying to achieve.

And then they come out with the Kia ProCeed GT for £20,000,

Nearly rear ended a Veloster on the French Autoroute in July. Stupid English Git decided to come to an almost stop before taking the slip road off the motorway. Only they did it in inside lane from about 80MPH to about 20mph. They almost ended up in a two door convertible with added bits made by Mercedes.
Very close to a major shunt. Closer than I've ever come with any French driver in more than 20 years of driving in France.
Bloody lunatic needed to learn how to use a slip road.

^^ hardly the car's fault!
You forgot the 'skateboard like' hard ride!
When they first came out and I saw the plastic bits on the bonnet, I wondered if the turbo one would have vents. Nope, just the same daft plastic bits.
On the whole though, the new stuff from Hyundai is pretty good.

Was at Hyundai this morning so had a closer look at this model.
Salesman said they had been out a year or so but not selling well, turbo version even less. I've certainly never seen on on the road.
My thoughts
Great that the manufacturer is trying something new
Great that there is a new turbo car on the market
Great that it's interesting and different
However
Those plastic bits on the bonnet are fookin stoopid
Can't see the point of the 3rd door
The exhaust pipe (1) bears no resemblance to the exterior exit
Too rounded/bloated at the front
We've sold a few at work, your thoughts sum them up beautifully.Salesman said they had been out a year or so but not selling well, turbo version even less. I've certainly never seen on on the road.

I think the Veloster looks OK, not sure I'd buy one personally. However, my thoughts on Korean cars and similar has changed a little recently, a couple of months back whilst in Oz I had a Hyundai Accent, it was OK, a perfectly acceptable cheap family hatch. This week I'm in Scotland and have a Kia Rio diesel as my hire car, again, it's OK, comfortable, well equipped, quite nippy for what is is, all in all pretty good, add in the 7 year warranty and again a decent alternative to anything European for a small family hatch. The only thing that really lets things down is the hard plastics on the dash, but to be fair not something I consider too much when buying a car.
Not been in a Veloster but again the interior looks good, well equipped if a little cheap, but hey, they have to compromise somewhere.
