I have no idea what anyone is talking about. What is Adam? Why can people not post stories with some info and context.
What more do you want to know - it's a photo taken by the OP's friend of the aftermath of a crash, involving a VW Golf and a Vauxhall Adam (which actually turned out to be Aixam thingy)maxp said:
How on earth can you call the vauxhall adam a st looking car?
Well, for starters it looks like a poor man's Citroen, something that's tough to aspire to. Most examples tend to be colour coded by the people purchasing them. Handy gimmick, but have you seen most people's taste? As usual the public are the weak links.Plus it's just too small, the interior is hideous (and again, poor man's Citroen) and cheap, and there isn't really a great need for this car.
Oh and it's one of the worst named cars on the market today.

Not so much solidity of the Golf - more the fragility of the Axiam. Scary........
Indeed."Are Aixam's vehicles crash tested?
Aixam's vehicles are the safest in class, we conduct independant crash testing in order to improve the safety and general build quality of the vehicle. At this point in time there is no NCAP test available for these vehicles."
I suspect that "safest in class" means safest compared to other motorbike engined cars ie. meets minimum safety standards, but would do very poorly in any IIHS or EuroNCAP test.
Seems to have held up ok though. They've cut the roof off and removed the doors, but the passenger compartment looks rather ship shape despite (I assume) the impact ripping the front quarter off the car away. The occupant may well have been able to get out, but I think now with most serious accidents, they go for the roof chop to get you out just in case there might be any spinal injury that you can make worse by moving and twisting. If the cars a goner anyway, its a no brainer, but I've seen them cut cars apart for less!

The competition for this car use much more interesting engines. Ford have the 1.0 eco-boost, fiat the Twin-Air, VAG have 1.0 3's and the brilliant 1.2 TSI. I know the twin air is about as good on fuel as VXR8 but it does at least lend character to a car that is already dripping in cheeky charm. And again, all but the VW UP! and its variants offer a diesel for the sheep.

Not much happen to the Golf, solid things.
That's good for the car, bad for the passengers in modern safety terms though. You want the car the absorb as much energy as possible and not transmit it to the occupants?wemorgan said:

The Aixam is a quadricycle, so has a maximum weight of 350/400kg, the Golf is about three times that. So it's like the Golf being hit by a fully loaded Merc Sprinter.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
