Err...1 person said please don't make it a paddle shift. Slight overreaction there.
Ha ha is that all it was?! Whoops - boy this is awkward... Must be because its such a recurrent theme. It seems that any article about a new hot hatch being launched with paddles takes about five posts before the luddites arrive waving burning brands and pitchforks...
I am genuinely curious about whether some of the haters (yo) actually have any experience with paddleshifts and why they dislike them, rather than just the usual disposable comments.

That's what caught my eye as well, is there anything to back this up?!
Yum. Ford said that they'd tried 4WD on the last RS and the FWD was actually a better car, but even from a sales point of view, a 4WD RS would sell insanely well as it's what every fast ford fan wants. Plus I can't see them going any higher with the power with FWD and it being driveable. mp3manager said:
Sounds like it came from the GT5 school of Car Engine Sound FX (c). Hopefully thats the synthesized bks the producers came up with. It certainly sounds a little more meaty when caught on video by the many people who stalk the ring watching manufacturers test their new cars.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBHUxqJqVBU

It depends on the engine and gearbox.
I'm not hugely convinced that a paddleshift in a small-displacement turbo car is ideal for an enthusiast (although average Joe may love it). But in a lightweight sportscar like a Lotus or Caterham, it might be brilliant. I'll miss heel and tow when everything goes auto. There's a great feeling when you nail a downshift.

The new RS is going to be 4WD, you say?
That's what caught my eye as well, is there anything to back this up?!Apologies, as you can imagine over the Frankfurt press days there's an even greater desire to upload content asap!
Cheers,
Matt
Why on earth is it taking so long to build this? It's not as if the last two Type Rs were really anything to write home about outside of their engines and gearboxes. If this isn't the Best Hot Hatch Ever ©2015 Honda Motor Europe Ltd. then there will be a lot of egg on the face.

Full auto round town is so much more relaxing, whilst full manual on the paddles is more engaging and intuitive than any manual box I have driven on a good back road.
It's entirely subjective, just because you like them doesn't mean everyone else automatically has to.I find it amusing how people are so negative towards new cars on these pages.
The last Type-R was slated for on only having 1bhp more than the previous shape by the hopeless oaf Clarkson. Performance wise it was still more than fast enough. This one will have over 80 ponies more, which is a significant increase. I'm also assuming it will also put an end to the 'you have to rag Type-R's because they have no torque'.
For me I want to know whether it will have a Limited Slip Diff and what it'll tip the scales at. Honda Civics have never been the finest looking hatches in base trim, but I personally liked the EP3 and have to admit really liking the more recent FN2.
I would be more interested if the Civic wasn't so sinfully ugly.
The first Civic Type R was a desirable little hot hatch - and since then Honda have shown a complete lack of design ability and the cars are just getting increasingly boring. The previous "Cadburys Egg-shape" was too chromed, bloated and tinselly - and they carefuly designed a hatchback with fancy spoiler syastem but no rear wiper! Madness.
Theres no denying that Honda can engineer a good car, which makes the awful design and the Grandad image all the more disappointing.

It wasn't the 1bhp gain that was slated, it was the extra 150kgs that blunted it's credentials. As for being fast enough, it dropped down to being no faster than a regular Golf GTi. If that's enough for you then great, but most previous Type R owners expected more.mp3manager said:
