From the Manheim condition report the years have certainly taken their toll on Modena/Longbridge's finest as it's a little bit tatty round the edges.

Given this, with no reserve, I'm guessing somebody will get a bargain. A good investment if you're prepared to hold onto it no doubt.

Hideous with a dodgy badge. It will never be worth a huge amount. Sorry if that offends.

The very fact it's getting repo'd should give you an idea of the kind of savvy involved in purchasing this 'future classic'...ie not much
It wasn't repo'd for a debt relating to the vehicle.

Didn't some well known motoring person or writer(I can't remember who) slate the SV for being an utter dog despite what other people were saying?

Not sure the colour is going to help ityikes
The color is fantastic and should command a premium. tongue out
Bit too close to sandglow , a hideous colour that adorned my rusty 100 quid Morris marina back in the day.

I later had a speed yellow Porsche so I'm not immune to the charms of yellow smile

Many many years ago, I once bought a bright yellow Dolomite in the dark with views to making into a lovely Sprint replica.

In the morning I glanced out of my window and to my horror the damn thing was Sand Glow.

A truly awful colour. Worse than the Russet Brown one I also had!

Pretty sure this car was also in the auction at the Silverstone Classic where it failed to sell. Looked a bit rough round the edges when I studied it but a very cool car nevertheless that I would love to own.

Googling the specs, I bet the 1000bhp factory approved nitrous versions would have gone pop pretty quickly....

The base MG XPower SV was powered by a 320 bhp (239 kW; 324 PS) at 6000 rpm 4.6 L Ford Modular V8 with a torque of 302 lb·ft (409 N·m) at 4750 rpm but was expensive due to the complex carbon fibre body. Both manual and automatic transmissions were available. The manual car had a top speed of 165 mph (265 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 5.3 seconds.Club Sport options, for customers who wished to use their SVs on the track, were planned but never produced. They included a 5·0 L 1,000 bhp (700 kW) version, thanks to factory-approved nitrous oxide injection kits, though the basic version had 410 hp (306 kW) with speed limited to 195 mph (314 km/h).

The 2004 XPower SV-R featured a more highly tuned 5.0 L 32-valve V8 with 385 bhp (287 kW; 390 PS) and is believed to have a top speed of around 175 mph (281.5 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 4.9 seconds.

The SV-S version used the 4.6 litre engine but was fitted with a supercharger to match the 385 bhp (287 kW) of the 5.0 litre versions. Only three were made. One SV-R was fitted with a supercharger to become the SV-RS, however this used an SV 4.6 litre engine

I think in 20 or so years, once most of the original MGR products have gone and a lot of the hatred has gone these could be worth quite a lot of money, the Chinese now own the brand, potentially wealthy Chinese collectors may take to buying up the back catalog ? once they get past the sitting in the back of a car being driven round thing.
Are there any potential collectors? I think the cultural shift might take a while to get to that point, as it appears to have done in Japan.

I used to own a Russet Brown (Classic) Range Rover. Its colour made it awesome for furtive hiding in the woods around dusk. A bloke's gotta have a hobby y'know.

At Bonhams it had a guide price of 20-25k and bidding didn't reach that. It didn't sell at Silverstone either. So obviously the market doesn't see it as worth 20k. Probably entered by the owner to raise some cash to stop the bailiffs which hasn't worked.

As a no reserve sale I'd guess it will go for about 10k.

I see absolutely no reason to like that car as I have no appreciation for the brand whatsoever, don't particular like the look of it and can think of many other better cars in that sort of price range. But yet the draw is strong!

The car is certainly a rarity and clearly collectible.

It will be interesting to see what it fetches at the no reserve auction.

Here is a pic of the car today...

Are they Punto headlamps?

So, what do you reckon it'll fetch.

Manheim suggest £20k plus but given it's tatty condition I think £17k is more likely.

Would that make it a bargain?
