BMW X4 Officially announced - Could this be the perfect car?
Discussion
Well they've culled the minging X2 (for good hopefully) and I expect that sales of either this or one of the other 'X' things will stutter and the aXe will fall on more of them. This can only be good news.

I was thinking that was pretty ugly, then I looked out the window at the Fiat 500 'XL' (or whatever they call it) and the four door exceptionally ugly Mini out there. They make this look not bad.
Guess these days the hideousness of your car is dependant on what you're parked next to.
I'd prefer the four wheel drive 3 series myself though.

Yep X6 is one of the ugliest cars on the road and this is just a smaller proportioned version of that vehicle.
I personally wouldn't go that far, the X6 has a certain brutish charm... but IMO BMW are lost despite an iconic front and rear graphic, the rest is a mess.Mercedes Benz GLA thing proves they're not alone.
And whilst it's massivley smarter the Macan treads the formulaic evolutionary path of Porsche diluted by VAG.... innofensive, smart and well proportioned, it'll age well but doesn't get the heart racing.
BMW's are braver but unsuccessful stylistically
MB follow them blind down the same aesthetic alley...
Audi tread a decent middle ground though...

Interesting. The OP should have a read of this...http://www.bmwblog.com/2013/04/18/source-says-bmw-...
I don't like this at the moment.
When I see it drive past me in M Sport trim with some nice wheels, i'll think that's not bad.
Then a neighbour will get one and it'll slowly start to grow on me.
Give it 2 years and i'll be speccing one on the configurator, then when the wife wants a car i'll convince her its good to have 4wd incase it snows.
I hate myself already.

I quite like that
Mind you, my wife took delivery of a new 320D xdrive last weekend and, to be honest, I'm struggling to think why one would need any more than that as a car.
It's quick, comfortable, quiet, spacious, drives well, is good on slippery lanes and is pretty parsimonious on fuel.

I quite like the chunky styling, but that's because I like to see design flowed through the entire vehicle, i.e. continuous lines etc.
However its basically a small X6 so not quite sure of the point and doesn't estate versions of normal 3 and 5 series do this job well, and have done for years?
