The facelift that made the Multipla look like a normal car for normal people, and removed the forehead as well. The revised version is dull, but I daresay it's an improvement in the eyes of most.
You're horribly wrong about this, but at least it lets me ask a question: what are those lights on the bulge of the original? Sidelights? Port and starboard?

Proof, perhaps, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer the older R model, personally.

Alfa 166 needs a redcard

The pre-facelift is so so so much nicer, I'd never consider a later one.

the original E class looks so much better, the new one is so blobby, the old one with separate headlights was the best looking car in its class.

i vote the s60/ v70 now the best looking saloon on the market.

infact, ide say that volvo have really done well with this new nose, they dont have a bad looking model in the range.

The facelift model looks clumsy and goofy compared to the clean lines of the original model.

E90 BMW. The original look rather naff, especially the rear. The LCI model really freshened it up.

Suppose the same could be said for most modern BMW models actually, maybe they deliberately hold back so that the LCI will look loads better and sell more. hehe

eta didnt realise 'aspirated' had already mentioned it!

As an thinly veiled excuse to post some nicer cars, you could argue this isn't much more than a series (geddit?) of successful facelifts:
