So - why did it fall through? Why do the current owners want out after such a short time?

Might be innocent but something is a little strange with that house.

OT but Its a pet peeve of mine to have a living area anywhere near the kitchen. This includes conservatories, living spaces, sofas, tvs etc. This seems to be a license to graze on food. No wonder 70% of adults are obese or overweight these days. I think that's doubled over 20 years with a more comfortable lifestyle.
ps looks like a very comfortable nice house. I wouldn't worry about the garage. Ive seen very expensive toys parked on the driveways in wealthy areas. What kind of toy did you have in mind? Obviously if old and rustable then a garage is mandatory.

I think I've worked out why it's on sale again after looking at it on Google Maps.

You see that building right behind the house? It's a fire station.

Top sleuthing! That would certainly stop me from wanting to live there....and if I didn't spot it before buying, I'd be mighty mad with myself!

Keep looking, OP

Thanks for all the digging. Good point re the fire station. Even though we love round here had forgotten about that.

We live in Davenham at the moment just up the road and it's a really nice area Davenham but this is not quite as good a spot but still plenty nice.

You get a lot for your money round here compared to down south so it's not a particular bargain, just a fair price.

Given it's already had a massive extension (even if it fits under PDR) might be worth calling the council's planning office to see what opnion they might have about the likely success of another, before you assume you could do it.

I don't think there is space for another. ( I think coming forward wouldn't look right).

I think the best thing would be to get rid of the study and try to restore it as it was... Probably best to wait for one and then add the kitchen extension to taste...

Of course, a firefox addon called propertybee.

Great for spotting sellers in distress amongst other things.
