Great story and good luck Charlie. If her previous foray is anything to go by Charlie should do well. I would love to see the maths behind this and see how one pays for a years racing, is there prize money (worth having) I wonder.

Good luck, Charlie.

I'm dead jealous, since I've been "competing" in hillclimbs & sprints for years and the really short hills in the UK can be a bit frustrating. Been hoping the PtB have a round in France (the TVRCC Speed Championship has even been invited a couple of times) but there seem to be various insurmountable bureaucratic hurdles to overcome (I assume to do with 3rd party liability cover via the MSA ...)

Great to see this posted. My car came from French hillclimbing. It'd be nice to have some coverage of UK hillclimbs and sprints though.
Andy, PH have done a few British Hillclimb posts last year.
I remember a post about hillclimbing in an MX5.
Plus they competed in a few rounds driving a standard Astra VXR.
I remember it going off semi at Prescott

Good luck.

I'm sure that Charlie has thought about this but how close to the weight limit is that van going to be with a massive tail lift and fully loaded with a car and tools?!

It will be interesting to follow this during the year.

The beauty of the French hill climbs is that they're on public roads, I've driven up the hill at Hebecrevon, it's great fun!

If you have enough signatures and can get a license, keep an eye here. This is where my friends get their slots.... Supposed to be a great event and the Brits are welcomed:

How does that front suspension system work then? Is that a heave damper and the others are hidden or some clever single spring/damper arrangement?
Shared single damper for the front, can't find whether they've got antiroll or not though - some older shots seem to have bell-cranked antiroll, but I can't see it on this one.

The front damper uses shims for the anti roll, tbh I'm a little foxed by it but we should be able to get a good baseline setup when I go testing in the next month or so smile

Just trying to remember a few of the things people mentioned to reply to - the weight limit on the van is going to be a bit close but it should be fine... I've got a few friends from Guernsey who've got a similar setup that I'm copying, removed quite a bit of weight, the payload is 1200kg and the original tail lift was much heavier than the ally ramps I've had made, I just need to be careful about what I put in but I can do light packing wink

Really excited to have the PH coverage and can't wait to start uploading video and more features once the season starts to gather speed.

The rocker slides from side to side for anti roll, with stacks of belleville washers for springs.

Anyone else struggling to get their head around the single damper setup?!

I wouldn't have thought that a monoshock suspension like this was suited to public roads which are never going to be surfaced like the racetracks that this car was designed for.

Thanks for that - it led me to a video of the same car/drive at Shelsley walsh and best guess it was around the 24 sec mark...... That's not hanging around

Keep following the links to some of the crazier euro hillclimb/bergrennen/course du cote videos - some of the cars are amazing
