I can't think of a car I have seen that I would rather own than this I struggle to see how it won't be anything other than perfect. All the power you will ever need, lightweight, good looks, manual, amazing chassis and a na engine for me the perfect sportscar fk the gt3
To me it's one of those cars that are perfect but I still don't want one. What's wrong with me? Anyway this is one of those "if I could only have one sportscar the rest of my life" candidates and a strong one at that.Edited by greggy50 on Tuesday 3rd February 23:33
Hmm...
I like it.
But when I look at a Cayman GTS I have a real desire for one. This I don't. Possibly because I could use the GTS every day whereas I think with this, I'd tire of it after a while, sell it and buy a GTS.
And then the people who'd buy this as a second/weekend/track car, wouldn't you just put a bit extra in and buy a GT3?

I feel similarly about this. I want to want it. I know it's great (well, you just know don't you?). But... those wing mounts are so very SERIOUS. Now I take driving seriously, but not TRACK-REFUGEE WING MOUNT seriously. I like it.

So it comes down to aesthetics for me, as is so often the case. I shouldn't care, but I do.

So there is a clubsport version also available, will there be an RS with the GT3's 9k rpm engine?
Going by what Preuninger said and hinted at in the interview I'd say a manual 981.2 GT4 RS with some sort of detuned N/A GT3 engine may very well be in the cards. He certainly made it sound like the GT4 will be a regular entry level GT car going forward, rather than a one-off special. What I find interesting (not having the money I know I won't get my bum in one) is the relative inefficiency of the vehicle. Suddenly it's 27mpg (though is that the US rating?) where most Porsche are now comfortably in the 30+mpg and therefore lower tax areas. I'm sure the car is actually more genuinely efficient than say a 911 auto but because I'm assuming it lacks some of the inefective fuel saving devices that are now fitted for the testing like stop start, (no idea if the 911 has that but you get mmy gist) it suddenly looks a bit juicy. Could be one of the few cars to actually hit its fuel consumption numbers.
About two weeks ago I saw a tricked up Cayman with wing like that. Like a true car nut I got to work and went online to find the wing because that and lowered suspension really made the Cayman look great.
Couldn't find details anywhere so now I'm thinking I may have seen a genuine Porsche prototype.

It may also be affected by the way the test dictates shift points for manuals, but lets autos decide for themselves. IIRC its defined for manuals as a certain percentage of maximum revs, so it punishes high-revving cars in particular for no good reason.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
