That colour has really really grown on me recently.

On a side note would that video footage be enough to get in trouble with the law like the Lake District drift king ?

Surely a call to the Boys in Blue for failing to stop SHOULD get them looking at the CCTV in the area / bus lanes. I would also be speaking to the bus Depot and asking them to check who was driving that route at that time. The buses have CCTV in them for driver protection so it shouldn't be hard to deal with.

And that price for the repair is scary when "scratch away" companies would quote around £100 for a scrape. Surely a small indi would charge a few hundered. I know Stuart Brown body repairs would cut that cost down for you if you can travel to him (Near Haslemere Surrey 01428 707 007)

For a private owner that would probably be an option worth considering but the car belongs to BMW and they want the repair done in-house by a nominated dealer.

Cheers,

Dan
Who will then call my guy who will charge them £120 for that repair......just saying!

And it should be the bus companies bill.

Unless he's actually reversed into a trolly bay in tescos.

Rip off on paint and tyres, I could get the paint repair done for £300, and 2 tyres fitted £320 (For Both)
As for depreciation it will be a lot in that colour,

And that is why you don't buy tyres from a stealer! I paid £220 each fitted for 305/30 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Supersports a few weeks ago and a 5 second google revealed the first item at £206 for M4 size rears! £341 each!!!!!

As so many have already said, why don't you just call up the Bus Company with the time and date and the Road?
Illegal or not, Most Bus drivers wouldn't stop for minor prangs because it would cause tailbacks and delays for the rest of the day and ultimately a loss in revenue, hence why the Bus Company would have no issue with paying up for the damage.

First of all BMW are within their right to repair in house and quote that much. And if someone hit my car I would go and get a quote of the dealers no matter what. peace of mind!

also I have a mate who was getting trained to drive buses by national express and he told me that if there is an accident involving a bus and whether the driver is at fault or not he will face disciplinary action and possible dismissal because they are supposed to be professional drivers trained to the highest standard and should know what is going around the whole bus.

Dan, if you really want to find the bus that did this then just get in contact with the depot. Most buses are tracked and many have cameras in them too. Just contact them with the date, time and location and say one of their buses hit the BMW and point out the fact they didn't stop is illegal and I'm sure it will be sorted out in your favour pretty swiftly.
Date, time, location and bus co will be able to identify vehicle/ driver.

Stopping the "tyres and tarmac" way isn't taught at PH driving school? wink

That said, it wouldn't be advanced driving to chase a bus down a bus lane.

Ah Kingston Upon Thames, had a very close shave with a double decker pulling out on me without indicating many moons ago. Would of been curtains for the 16v Punto if he connected i'm sure!

I do like the M4 only seen one on the road and it looked and sounded pretty good. Still prefer the M3 though! The M2 is an interesting proposition depending on how it's priced I could be tempted.

Plod won't care, similar thing happened when a lorry knocked into the back of my wife, clearly he knew he hit her and as she pulled over to sort it out he drove off. Cameras are close by but they said without a reg they wouldn't even ask to look at them. Very frustrating, yes I know bigger more important things, but very annoying none the less when it's us that have to fork out.

Fingers crossed for some cost free motoring going forward.

Is it just Austin that comes out that expensive? Or all the colours, as they're all unique to M?

I wonder if you thought he waved a gun they might look more closely?

There was a prang outside our house and one driver just drove off but I got the number and called 999, they turned up fairly sharpish. I asked. Why no blues and twos, he said "always suggest there is someone injured, we can use them the!"

A few years ago I badly damaged the sidewall on a run flat on a 135i when I hit debris on the motorway . I was fortunate that I was on my way to a really big tyre distributor and they sorted it out for me. Even they didn't have the right tyre in their entire network but they sourced one from the local BMW dealer.

If you have the luxury of planning your tyre replacement then you can shop around for the best price and wait for them to arrive. But if you need a tyre in an emergency it is nice to know that a dealer is likely to have what you need and a whopping discount is probably a bit much to ask...

Cannot get past the price to buy as tested (base price is clearly total BS), nor the cost of shreddage. Ludicrous. Someone needs their head examined.

Any decent rally car will escape up the road with minimal loss of traction and neck snapping acceleration.

May as well piss your money up against a wall for a few seconds of fun.

Depreciation on this will be fun to watch (there's a sucker born every minute). Wheres the popcorn?
