Affordable iconic engines we all should experience

Any Jaguar V12. A sublime driving experience, and a feast for the eyes and ears. Try one before they are all scrapped or legislated out of existence.
You can pick up a working XJ40 V12 with MOT for less than a grand. Of all the cars I have owned, I miss that one the most. No other car has given me the same sense of connection between man and machine.

There won't be retroactive legislation banning them from the UK. It may become impossible to make them in future, but existing ones won't be forced out with legislation. You can pick up a working XJ40 V12 with MOT for less than a grand. I don't know, EU ultra-low-emissions rules probably will be enforced retroactively, forcing anything non-compliant off the road.
One I haven't yet had, but would love to - the M-B M120 V12. Not the full Zonda-spec shrieking monster, just one of these... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhX0Y2wQfqo - also because EJ200-intake-grade single-crystal titanium radiator grille...

330i 3.0 I6
I would extend the above to pretty much any petrol N/A I6 from BMW, particularly earlier ones without electronic throttles.I also echo other posters with the Buick/Rover V8. Doesn't have to be in a TVR, a Landrover or range rover with the 3.5ltr is great fun.

No, it won't.Certain types of vehicle may be barred from certain areas (city centres, for instance) but they will not be entirely outlawed as long as they meet all restrictions which were in effect when they were built.
Favourite engines from stuff I've owned
Small block chevy v8 - it should be the law that everyone experiences possibly the most widely used and versatile engines of all time
Jag AJ6 4.0 straight 6 has been around forever in various guises, very good engine well suited to big wafty cruisers
RB25DET r32/r33 skyline (my rb is in a Stagea)
And just because no one has said it yet - A series i.e. mini engine

Ex Buick/Rover V8 in erm, more or less anything.
My mate swears by his rover KV6 (in a MG ZT). Im actually tempted by the rover V6 myself in a ZS since the price of busso V6s has gone a bit sky high. Never heard one of the old V8s though, just the ford modular in the big daddy ZT xD.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
