Errr no.... it's way too obvious ... just shows that there are ignorant idiots out there...Normally switching mine back to high beam does the trick....Spot which of these two was using high beam and which was using dipped... about 10 seconds apart on Sunday night...Sadly not uncommon these days....

That's a good point, but I've experienced it on lightly traffic duals late at night - Sunday eve being the last.Zad said:

Or are less keen once they realise it's a "front end of the car off" job.... so many cars now are a bumper off job to replace a bulb, it's insanity, and entirely done to give the service centers an excuse to charge £200 to change the fker...Not that it's any excuse, I've always replaced a fked bulb within 24 hours of it going... normally seems to happen when I'm over 200 miles from home which is a pain, I'd swap it myself at the services / petrol station if it were even possible...
Case in point.. indicator stopped working in my XF... quick google, three bolts and headlight comes out, jolly good, pick up a bulb from halfords get home....
an hour later after fruitless searching for the magic wheel arch bolt I realise I have the facelift Jag which is different., which you have to take the bumper off to get the headlight unit out...why the fk would they think that was a good idea??? and to make matters worse, it's a sealed unit for the indicator, so throw the fker away and buy a new one!!!! (thankfully, after further research, it turned out it was just some damp connectors, so a dry, and spray did the trick)...
This is st that the EU can sometimes be good for, rule to say that all bulbs must be user servicable/replaceable with minimal or no tools...
My old mondeo was ace, two retaining clips removes with thumb and forefinger... headlight out... bulb replaced... 5 minute job....
The thing I hate the most is overly bright and poorly leveled headlights.
How the driver behind cannot see that the vehicle infront has its entire cabin illuminated (including the back of the poor drivers head) and not think something is a miss is beyond me.
I usually take to turning the rearview up to stop myself being blinded, which again must be bloody obvious to the driver behind

Glad it's not just me. Recently been coming back in the night on unlit back roads, and I was going completely blind at times with the brightness of oncoming cars headlights, even though I knew the road well, still felt unsafe. Then you get some tt up your trumpet when you slow down so you don't end up in the ditch.
Even made me go to the opticians who recommended I get some glasses (very weak prescription) with anti-glare coating on the lenses. Makes a small difference, but still can be blinded more often than not.
Doesn't help that our Fiat 500 headlights are appalling, on dip beam you can only see ~6ft in-front of you, and if your going up a hill/slope it's even worse.

Yep, and on motorways. Whats worse though are the people you overtake on said dual carriageways who also have their high beams on and dont dip them after you overtake ILoveMondeo said:

Come to think of it, in my fairly limited driving career of around 80,000 miles, i have never had a headlight bulb go. Brake lights yes and and an indicator rarely, but never a dipped or main beam.
Odd because i've had sound systems in my cars which dimmed the lights, you'd think it would reduce the life of the bulb and make it go bang.
Do those auto dimming mirrors make much difference to dazzle? Never had a car with one

I live in a fairly rural spot so HIDs are not the problem. People who are too ignorant to lower the lights when passing oncoming traffic on tight winding lanes is, though. As well as the one idiot who parks at the side of a road with full beams on every single night.

Seems like the only option then is to fit my own 55w 6000K Ebay job. That way even if i'm being dazzled, i'll still be able to see the road infront of me.
