I'd imagine that needs a new roof skin, shouldnt be off road for too long.
It's got a sunroof. Highly unlikely they'd want to fix that. They didn't entertain it.
Plus, with damage to a corner (structural?), You'd have query impact on rollover strength etc.

You could try saying it's been hit by a meteorite... you'd be quids in!

As I said further up, mine had similar (but a bit less severe) damage.

It's a job that can done without too much bother, the price will be the only sticking point. They didn't entertain it.

I had a roof skin replaced by the BMW dealers bodyshop after a block of concrete fell on it in a storm. The damage looked worse than yours, but the job was done in a week and a half for about £4500. Don't give up hope just yet.
..but on a 9yo MINI? I would think the write- off cheque is as good as written, it's cheaper for the insurer.Blaster72 said:

As a truck driver of a wide range of vehicles myself I can't see it being a truck/trailer given the height it's happened. If it was tail swing from a truck the damage would be at bonnet/wing/mid door height, not 5ft off the ground on the roof. I really can't think what else it could possibly be at that height though.

Perfect height for boards hanging out the back of a scaffold wagon.
Nah too high. Scaffy wagon load beds aren't that high. The planks or poles would've gone through low to mid windscreen or side window. Also the angle of the damage doesn't make sense considering the width of the road and where the OP was parked - I don't think it was any kind of truck reversing in to it. The way it's punctured and crushed the roof suggests to me that something heavy was dropped on it from above.Insurance will write that off for sure.
Easy repair though, a good panel beater wont swap the skin, just straighten the ding, weld up the tear and a skim of filler.
It does appear to have had filler before, and the paint is thicker than it would have come from the factory.
Buy it back from the insurance company and have a good independant repair it, cheap motoring for years to come.

Front of the trailer sticking out on a turn would be the right height wouldn't it?ThunderGuts said:
