This is not helping... I'd come to the same H&S exhaust conclusion to add more 'voice' to my XT - also to be fitted at Richard Henry - but I need to wait until after Christmas due to funds.

If ever you fancy letting your STI go Dan... smile

My office is being moved which may precipitate a reluctant sale of mine early next year... It will be up on PH if so. :'(

Haywood &Scott's welding seems to have taken a sharp decline in standards looking at that tail box.

to the gents with over 300hp, is this with other supporting engine mods or absolutely standard bar exhaust and remap? i like the idea of a remap to release extra horses but not at the expense of reliability. I've read a few horror stories with playing this engine

I would second Stripe on trying for too much

1.2 bar has always seemed safe to me, and where mine's at

they were about 280bhp standard in Japan. sports cat, system, filter and a remap are all good for around the 330bhp mark. its enough for a road car. you couldn't make use of all the power except on the track anyway, then you'd really be wanting to look and baffled / windage plated sumps etc. block is the ej255, not the ej257. 0-60 in 5 seconds and good for 160mph at the above sort of power.

Yeah, as I say 342 bhp with just backbox and filter. That's @ 1.2 bar also.

The fact is that if your wife is driving it mainly I'd stop trying to polish it to perfection and instead spend money on your own car Dan. You will appreciate it more then her whatever you do to it.

I know the feeling, you have a nice gem and want to polish it further, but if you are not driving it that many miles per week why bother? Spend it on the car you are driving. As you are a journo who drives other peoples cars rather than your own this takes even more importance.

Sort your own car out first rather than the Missus one.

You're forgetting the lure of a new toy, plus the only real extravagance was the exhaust. Not sure anyone would let the family car run on brakes needingredients an overhaul!

My Dad's just put a H&S rear box on his as well, as you say it makes a nice difference to the noise. Like Dan's his is pretty much standard including the speed limiter although he's had a few more problems with it (new diff, shocks, rad issues, etc).

All common issues - my rad cracked it's top hose attachment and needed replacing (£52)

Shocks start knocking (as they do on all Subarus)

What was the diff issue?

Whining badly. Ended up ordering a new one from Subaru in Japan at quite a cost but figured that the car's probably worth it. Shock knocking and cracked hose were exactly what he had. We managed to get a spare set from the US but they weren't much better so now looking at complete replacements.
