This got me reading about the ingredients of screenwash, which seems to be a mix of water, ethanol and ethylene glycol.
It can't be that one maker has 'better' chemicals than other, can it?
Apparently so. Quite a few posts on detailingworld and it would seem some screen washes can clog or leave a residue.

Bought some BMW -60 degrees C. stuff a few weeks ago. Good value and delivered, too. Have a look here for details:

I've wondered the same. Any chemists in the house want to explain the nuances?
Purity of reagents; are they standard or pharmaceutical grade. How they were manufactured; there's more than one way to synthesis the ingredients. They also don't specify which ethylene glycol they use; mono, di, tetra etc. There are many forms of ethylene glycol.

In a nutshell.

Fun fact; ethylene glycol is a bi-product of ethylene oxide, which I use at work. One of the most dangerous and explosive gasses you can have.

I've stopped using the cheap supermarket stuff as I had to drain my tank this summer as it was bunked up that much!

Interesting. I like the word molarities.
Any way of telling from the ingredient list whether you're looking at good stuff or not (if screenwashes even list ingredients).
Or are the benefits only revealed when testing it? Not sure I'd be able to rate screenwash, other to tell that it squirts, smells suitably chemically, and is either frozen or not!
Nope, afraid not. Not from what manufacturers put on their labels at any rate.

when a product works far better than its competitors suddenly disappears, it probably means they've discovered it's powerfully carcinogenic.

That's the stuff you want. You know, stuff that actually works.

As an aside - 5L of concentrate, not sure the brand, think it was not much more than a fiver, certainly less than 10 quid. It's out there if you look for it. T&C's - not bought in the UK, but a UK product.

Anyone know if this stuff is any good? It's about the nearest I can find to Lidl freezing point/price http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/...
Nice find!
More expensive than Lidl, but as you say the specs look good.

I don't think they do it any more?
I even rang their helpline and they have no record of any deliveries this year.

Shame because it was the best stuff out there.
This is tragic weeping
Dry your tears. I bought some in Sheffield, but it was months ago, very early for winter.

Do these turbo-powered wash fluids cause any dramas with the silicon baby wipe used during fitting / silicon deposited on each wipe from PIAA wipers?

That's really helpful - thanks.

Try the Aldi one, in the shops twice per winter,

as good as Lidl´s stuff, look out for the sale date and the -60° quality.

Normally this time of year Aldi have some good products, but this year my local store has nothing of interest.

I guess they are now focusing on selling cheap groceries for poor people.

Gone are the days when they sold high spec computers and large screen TV's.

Or cheap groceries that are surprisingly decent? Loads of the Lidl stuff is great. Maybe its less for poor people and more for people who are careful with money and like german cake?

Tbh their fruit and veg is far better than our local ASDA/Tesco/Sainsbury's/Morrisons, etc. Their ribeye steaks are some of the best going bar hitting a proper butcher/farm shop too...

I love Lidl, it's my favourite shop. That German Christmas cake - Stollen! I can eat so much of that I can make myself sick!

We've just had a new Lidl open in the nearest town. It's awesome! They do these super tasty cinnamon rolls from the bakery section that taste like Cinnabon ones, but cost 35p or something silly. biggrin Haven't noticed any screen wash yet, though.

I imagine the falling pound made it look like it wasnt a good thing to sell this year.

Another brexit bonus cough...
