Pedantry alert!
There's no such tyre as the Michelin Pilot Sport 5S. It's the Pilot Sport S 5.

Aston Martin would like a word with you.
"Mounted on new, larger 21-inch alloy wheels, trimmed to maximise the harmony between the tyre and tarmac. DB12 also debuts the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5S tyre. Developed alongside Michelin and bespoke to Aston Martin. A hand spun compound for unparalleled lateral grip, to dampen the effects of rain and cushion comfort into every roll of tread."

The dimensions give the impression it may look a little dumpy. For example, it’s wider and taller than the Yaris GR but slightly shorter.
This. It is wider than my Cayman but taller than my Fabia (which looks like its on stilts). Like so many modern cars - from a distance it looks like a compact hatch until you get up close and realise its the size of a small town. It will definitely need to 'shrink around you' to be fun on twisty B roads.snorkel sucker said:
It's been a few years now since the BMW i3s waved goodbye; that really was the benchmark for cars like the Alpine.
The i3 probably gets slated by everyone who has never driven one saying they look funny etc. It was my first foray in to EVs and I was hesitant about going in to one coming from an ICE car. They were a great drive, honestly the i3s was great as a daily and I miss it, they were nibble and tight little cars which put a grin on your face, an EV version of an early warm/hot hatch. If the Alpine feels a bit like the i3 then it will be a winner. MrGeoff said:

This will be probably quite heavier than the i3 which was around 1350kg.And why do the small cars have to be so tall (and wide in this case)? I hate that look.

It's a long shot, but could it be to do with the need to fit people in?
People don't realize how much difference just 10 centimeters make.twingo 1
width: 1 630 mm
height: 1 423 mm
twingo 2
width: 1650 mm
height: 1470 mm
twingo 3
width: 1640 mm
height: 1550 mm
10 centimeters is also the difference in height between a civic 5g (think eg6) et a 7g (ep3)...
