I'll reserve judgement until they publish the weight but I'm not overly optimistic..

I expect it will be a great car, Porsche don’t usually get it wrong. With a heavy degrading battery on board residuals will surely take a hit more than any previous 911.

Considering speed limiters coming into effect this year, what’s the point. Buy a cheaper ubiquitous EV for daily duties and use your savings for a 997 or a motorcycle…

decent time considering it'll presumably be the new base spec car?
I believe it’s going to be one of the high end models but let’s see. Normally sporty hybrids have a lot of power, let’s say this one will have 600-ish bhp, so they will want a premium for it. If it’s so much quicker than whatever they’re comparing it with and with extra weight, it must be quite powerful.

Weight please.

I do wonder if this in fact would be a 4S rival rather than a 2S , unless the hybrid element is providing power/torque fill / overboost type ability to the rears?

Performance EV's are enjoying somewhat of a 'honeymoon' period at present, enjoy it while it lasts..Safety is king and speed limiters is just the start and although you can apparently disable the ISA system initially that will probally not be the case in the future..

I think it will be a mild hybrid used for torque fill, a plug in would add far too much weight.

With 911's now all being Turbo and the future looks to be Hybrid, I wonder what that will do to used prices or the older more raw 911's. Still dreaming that my 997.2 will one day catch up with 991 turbo prices biggrin

"It’s not all quite as bad as you may think, though, as the European Transport and Safety Council admits the system will come with a full on/off switch initially."

We will be ok for a bit I think.

They can also be programmed out of the ecu without too much fuss.

The level of performance cars are reaching now is incredible!

It’s bonkers that your Porsche or BMW can no run low 7mins times in the Nurburgring.

Remember anything sub 8mins being seriously impressive.

That being the case I suspect they will make "tampering with safety systems" illegal in fairly short order. We're dealing with zealots here who hate the car and everything it represents.

The UK Govt have a law either in place or coming that bans mods to cars. It's as if they foresaw people would not like all this nannying electronics wink

The cars photographed have pre-production 'camo' installed, so not sure you'll get to own one unfortunately.

Did the 'cooking' model 911s have wings? I thought they were reserved for the GT models, or those horrible 'aero kits' or whatever they're called.

Not in place yet.

This is still being debated in its earliest stages so is still going through the rigmarole that could block it from coming into force. Either way, it's not going to be any time soon...

It is. The question is, can Porsche use it to add more to the driving experience than it takes away with the weight? Let's not forget the 918, LaF, P1 and Valkyrie are also hybrids and none of them are exactly shlt!

All mods? Even on ICE cars? Hardware and software? JHC. What utter nonsense. Lots of car parts - tyres, brakes, ECUs, clutches, springs, shocks, engine mountings, intakes, cameras, hifi, wheels, etc are average to poor quality, especially on cheaper and older cars.

We're ruled by cissy townies, most of whom detest cars and would love to ban them outright, but for the extortionate fuel, road, sales taxes they screw out of us.
