Are you though?

This costs a fair bit more, its performance is in a totally different ball park too. Id say its aimed more at M3/RS4/911 owners?

The interior looks much better than previous cars, it looks like proper stitched leather on the dashboard. Overall it looks great but I agree with other's comments about the front, they should have kept it closer to the concept. Regarding weight, I expect it'll be around 1600kg which tallies with the claimed performance and engine power.

I like it.

It will be a miracle if it is under £40k here though...

Cheers,

We don't know yet, but:

There’s rumored to be three different flavors of the new GT-R, starting with a 450hp entry-level model and ranging up to a 530hp flagship

Hope so. 1600 kg is still 100 kg too heavy though IMO. If it came in at 1500 kg with a full tank and 530 hp then it will be impressive, 1600 kg dry is fat.

Being a fairly young 350z owner yes. In theory people buy into marques so when I'm ready for the next step up I should be looking at the GT-R.

In reality I'll probably be looking at a used R8 / 911 Carrera S in the 60k price bracket.

The latest 350z is 306bhp so the base GT-R won't feel massively quicker. I imagine the track model will be quite trick.

As for the weight of this thing... The 350z is 1600kgs and is a smaller platform, 2 seats, smaller engine etc. I hate to think what this will tip the scales at.

So if the latest 350z is the same weight as the GTR but 114hp less, it will still be noticely quicker?

If the talk is to be believed I would say that the performance difference between the new GTR and the Z would be night and day?! Its supposed to be on a par with the 997 TT rather than a Z/Boxster.

If the 1/4 mile time is to be believed then I cant see it being much more than 1500-1600kg region... the time in the article is only 0.1 off the Mclaren F1 time.

Im most curious to see how much it will cost in the UK though. This will be one of the deciding factors on how well it does here. Despite the performance, it wont be looked at as a true 997/R8 alternative, its a Nissan at the end of the day! It needs to be in the £40k-£50k bracket to do well IMO.

The trap speed will be more telling of the cars performance. If it is trapping around 123-125 mph then it will be fast as but if it is trapping less than 120 mph then the 11.7 time is more down to traction off the line. I am pretty sure if you check the trap speed of a McLaren F1 it is pretty high (easily over 135 mph)

The M3 or RS4 or 911 Turbo all weigh around 1600kg so it's not like is any porkier than similar cars.

The 350Z is lardy for it's class/size, it's 250kg more than an RX8 or Boxster for example.

Agreed. In reality I fear the fast one will be priced around the 911.

If it's $80k in the US....i'd be reckoning on £65-70k here.
If thats the case then we really do live in rip-off Britain!

List price in Japan for the hot version is £37k plus taxes.

And list price for a Civic Type-R in Japan is ~ £11k I believe. The Japanese simply refusr to pay a lot for cars. It will be $USD figure in sterling, so £80K ish

“The GT-R requires special attention because its technology is so advanced.

“It also calls for finesse in salesmanship because the sales representative must deal with customers who are going to be very demanding.”

Nissan is setting up 160 showrooms called 'high-performance centres' around the country for maintenance work on the GT-R.
To summarise, then....
