RE: BMW 135i First Drive
Discussion
It seems that BMW is, to me, trying to plug every bleedin' hole in its range with dull cars. The 1 series is ok (though why you'd want to spend 20 grand on a 'family hatchback' that has its rear boot full of rear differential just for the ultimate driving experience is beyond me) but I think this model is a bit of an after thought. And 300bhp from a twin turbo'd 3 litre 6 cylinder engine? How lazy! It's not pretty enough and its had too heavy and irritatingly they always seem to over price the extra's and the base gadgets you get are pants. A waste of money IMHO.
I really love the idea for this car, but when you start to look at the figures involved
2,979cc twin turbo straight ‘six’
1,560kg
£36K
It all goes a bit pear shaped if you ask me. If the car was in the price bracket of say a Hot hatch 22-26K, it could be a real winner.
For £36K you can get allot of nice metal, new, and second hand.

What advantage does this car have over a nearly new Z4C?
I don't think it is even in the same league. The Z4MC looks dynamite in my opinion, and apart from being a bit twitchy, is reported to be a great car to drive. I want one. In white. Now.Edited by Fittster on Monday 5th November 13:31
[quote=Wanta996(Gotta)] In other words, this is a ‘small’ coupe that weighs practically as much as a ‘medium’ coupe, which makes you start to wonder what the point of having a ‘small’ coupe is in the first place.
Enough said - What type/age of buyer is BMW attempting t attract to this car? I cant personally think of any performance car owners i know that would consider this car?? BMWs marketing department should all get sacked for actually agreeing to this "thing".
P.S.The 1 series convertible is also a complete joke.

2nded. It's an utterly useless car.
There is still the illusion today that a small car is light. As with this Beemer, however, they are getting near SUV-type weight figures. Look at the 3 series convertible at 1.8 tonnes...

Why are you all complaining about the extra weight these cars are putting on?
Because this is supposed to be a "performance" car and anyone that knows the first thing about cars knows that weight is the single worst thing you can add to a car performance wise. This thing weighs 1,560kg and there is absolutely no reason this car should be that heavy. It is a joke.
So its heavy
pretty dull to drive
expensive
and not wholly attractive (I'm being generous to accommodate those that blindly believe that it's 'individual')
hmmm a car created to be a rare classic in time then...
Makes me want to weep, for years I've been watching 2nd hand BMW prices thinking one day I'll be in the market for something really nice.
Now my market place is littered with Bangle mash-ups and over weight wheel and colour specific oddities...
