What is the problem with an audi a2?!
Discussion
A very advanced car in materials and design but..
They ride like st
They steer like st
They go like st (and not off a shovel, more a teaspoon)
They have a habit of wearing out tyres on the side closest to the engine - and they all do that sir.
I had one for about two weeks and sold it. It was awful. This was a top of the range Sport 1.4 Tdi.
If you have to get one for gods sake don't buy the sport, the ride is simply appalling on British roads.
Residuals are high on these (why?) which is a plus if you have to bin it after a couple of weeks.. lol

A2's aren't that bad. In fact they're pretty good.
We've had a 1.4 Tdi SE for 3 years.
They can be chipped to 105 BHP, not much , but combined with 250Nm on a car weighing 880Kg it does make a nippy little car. They will cruise at the ton all day, and still give 50mpg.
Very good fit and finish, but pretty poor std equipment on some models. (for example SE gets climate control but no CD player!)
Ride is rather harsh, but handling is very neutral. Harsh ride can be fixed by a combination of Konis and better tyres.
Only problems on ours have been snapped front coil springs, caused by seized top mounts.
Fitted 4 Hankook tyres on it 10K miles ago, and still pretty good (4mm) tread left. Tyre wear has been even, no scrubbing issues (a little feathering caused by PAS maybe)

A2's eh? Terrible cars for many reasons. Unsurprisingly, Audi decided to pull the plug on them. Now THAT doesn't happen too often.
The worst positioned A-pillars in the whole history of the motor car.
I thought that they pulled the plug as they lost money on everyone they sold. The worst positioned A-pillars in the whole history of the motor car.
They really are built like tanks, although any damage to the aluminium spaceframe has to be repaired by a specialist.
PS much worse A pillars in most MPV's IMHO.

They look like invalid cars and are mainly bought by very old woman. You normally see them driving them badly in supermarket car parks, taking about 20 minutes reversing backwards and forewards and then deciding its too dificult so driving off to park somewhere else.
What a bizarre post. Have you any proof on the demographic of A2 owners?Thought not.
The A2`s main problem was it`s original price. The car was very advanced when it was released in terms of construction and aerodynamic detailing.
I am not a very old woman, and it's easy to park them. I'd guess that the people you saw would have the same trouble in any car.
Yes the A piller is a bit of an obstruction, but thankfully your body comes fully equipped with bones and muscles which mean you can MOVE YOUR HEAD so you can see around it. So it's only dangerous if you're an idiot.
The ride isnt that bad, but if you're worried about it get one on 16" wheels.
The go like a rocket, I dont know what others have been used to but as a point to point to point car I think it's fantastic. The handling is brilliant, the brakes are great, the sports seats in mine are fabulous the elevated seating position makes overtaking a doddle.
It is THE most complete car that I have ever owned, it's like a MKII GTi but with electric everything and air/con. You can take the back seats out totally and it turns into a minivan, big enough for 8 17" wheels/tyres
as for them being rare... there are 4 on my road
added: Drive it like i stole it and it gives me 42mpg. Go sensibly I get 54MPG.
