I might be way off here... but I could have sworn I read an article somewhere with pictures about this, a few weeks back. So why are they unveiling it like nobody has seen it??? confused

I'll reserve jsutdgement till its unveiled, i dare say though that it will be a class leader for driving enjoyment and in 8 years phers will be buying larger engined models as barges.

It looks way better than the old one. Still, boring as watching at ceiling

it looks so far like health and safety had taken the pi55; that soft and squigy bluff front end is a bit too slablike but I'll hold back till I see it in the metal.....and my wife sells them so should be soon.

I'll reserve judgement until you can see at least 50% of the car.

There were pictures of the new 5-series in the CARandDRIVER magazine I bought at the weekend, so it is obviously not a world wide launch tonight.

ORLY is all I can say to this at the moment.

It would be nice to see how it compares to the XF.

to me, there seems to be a hint of E87 1 series in the front headlamps.
Agree on the whole swollen look not looking good.
Shall reserver judgements for after the release, although the current E60 is my least favourite in the whole line up (it was great when it came out, but seems very bland now, whereas other models have really grown on me)

= )

It will sell 50x more than the XF no matter what it looks like.

I remember how heavily criticised the E60 5 series was when it was launched. Look how successful that has been.

Sales numbers aren't always the metric for a good-looking or well-engineered car. The Mk4 Escort being probably the best example of that.

My thoughts exactly.

Is it not a sin on PH to dislike BMW?
Not at all, infact, there are a fair few fanboy's on this site!
I drive a BMW, but all the recent models are overweight, waddling fraulines that need to shed a few hundred pounds. cos sticking in a huge engine isn't gonna help them against their competition, when they've either got 4 wheel drive, or even bigger engines.

It looks dull, far less inspired than the outgoing model.

No doubt there are plenty of unimaginative, souless plebs who will tear up to the dealers to place their deposits though rolleyes

I have just died and gone to middle management heaven.

No Doubt it it will be a class leader but I just dont care.

For me BMW make irrelevant cars.

The developmet budget BMW have they should be producing super efficient light cars but no, big heavy Inefficient seems to be their mission statement.

Is it because of the badge the launch of a family car is covered on a petrolhead site ?

Well this is going to form.

A load of people who drive 10 year old diesel Vectra's making sweeping generalisations about drivers of a European manufacturer.

Load of paupers the lot of ya..
