It's not queue jumping, it is merging in turn.
Exactly! Thank you.Two lanes into one is merge in turn, which as it happens the lanes of traffic legitimately destined for the M4 are attempting to do before billy bell-end (you) attempts to jump in from the third lane.

Because they're thinking "I've been sat here queueing for ages, this tt thinks he can just skip the queue and push in, I'm going to stop him."
And why the heck not? If you want to queue jump, buy a car with dents and scratches all over it, so people won't risk getting hit. Its a good psychological weapon.Or Don't queue jump.

I work in Brentford and on my way home have to get on the M4 from the A4 from under the elevated section. Stupidly, People queue from the Chiswick round-a-bout like idiots when all I do is scoot down the outside and cut in last minute.
However, there's always some idiot who tries to stop me joining the lane by pulling really close to the car in front but looks straight ahead and pretends not to see me. What's it with these people? It's hardly going to make much different to their arrival time if they simply let me in? Arggghhh!
So let me get this straight:However, there's always some idiot who tries to stop me joining the lane by pulling really close to the car in front but looks straight ahead and pretends not to see me. | M4 | M4 | A4 |
If you are in the A4 lane and cut in to the M4 lane at the last second then you are a dick. Everyone has cued to get on the M4 - what makes you so special?
If you are in either of the M4 lanes then I do not know why don't people merge in turn - the general standard of driving today in the UK etc etc
Please bear in mind I drove that section of road for 3 years and on numerous occasions there were coppers waiting to give a bking to those inconsiderate gits that cut in.

Driving down the right lane up to a roundabout and going all the way round thus avoiding the long left lane queue does not count!
I enjoy doing this too, annoys some people but perfectly legal, I'm sure the annoyance they show is a inner reflection of 'Cheeky git! why aren't I that smart?' Arese said:

The O/P would be in the outside lane.
ETA - There is a merge in turn sign but it's not applicable to the O/P as he is in neither of those two lanes. He is in the lane clearly marked ahead only.

can someone link to a google earth of the junction?
it's under the elevated section so you probably won't be able to see ithttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UT...

They consider you queue jumping and don't understand merge in turn.
It would be fine if people did understand merge in turn!
I experience this every night on the way home.
If I'm in the inner lane and wait for a car on the outside then another 3-10 cars will all push past, the cars behind then get annoyed and try and pull around too. Can't win!
If I'm in the outer lane trying to merge then I get the "I can't see you" let's bunch up form most people too. I have ended up driving alongside other cars until we met a traffic island which I had to stop before (not enough room for 2 cars) and wait for someone who was sensible enough to let me merge and not sqeeze up the inside of me.
Generally, joe public turns into a moron when they get behind the wheel.

If the left lane is queing then take the right hand one, go all the way around the roundabout and then its your priority. Do it all the time on one roundabout locally as the ques are fecking stupid....
