Exo, any recommendations on where to stay, eat etc in Geneva?
I've flown there many times whereupon I'd hire a car and head for some skiing.
I've tended to go around March, have often seen the show advertised, and have always thought I should go.
Since skiing is somewhat expensive at the mo, this might be a great alternative.
Cheers in advance.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

The main thing is to bear in mind that sterling has not performed well against the Swiss Franc in the last few years, so everything feels expensive, on a par with London.
I am staying at the Etap hotel down the road from the airport - comfort is ok but convienence better. I only need a roof over my head and that's it. I am attending on press days so prices are higher. If you are going on public days, it will be cheaper.
Public transport is very efficient and runs like clockwork.
I can't write home about eating out in Geneva - because I go with my client and eat whatever they order!
Here is the link to the official Salon website - it will be the 80th anniversary of the event.

As usual, and further questions, just ask.

Very easy to get to, you don't even have to leave the airport to get to the exhibition centre. I'd say its worth it if you manage to get cheap flights.
We have Easyjet to thank!!!!They smashed the monopoly of the big players - I can remember a certain airline wanted £350 return, or £200 but Sat night must be included. That was back in the 1980's.

I did the Geneva show last year. Really enjoyed it. It's massssssssiivvveee.
A word of advice though, don't spend all afternoon drinking in the bars around Geneva, then get a bit tooo close to the Jet d'Eau.
500 litres of water a second can get you pretty damn damp, pretty quick!
Oh and then don't whatever you do, go to H&M buy new clothes, get changed, leave your wet clothes in a bag, in a random locker at the train station, then carry on drinking, ending up back at your mates flat in France.
Waking up the next morning, in a strange flat, in clothes that aren't yours, with a dawning realization that your passport is in a locker in a train station in Switzerland, while you are sat in France isn't good.

Amazing isn't it?
I just bought two adult tickets for 28CHF - £8.75 each!
How much is a UK motorshow? Even the PH Show is £29 per person!
Why are we always so royally ripped off at every opportunity in this country?
And of course the exchange rate plays a role in this. Sterling went down from £1 = 2.4CHF to 1.6CHF now.I just bought two adult tickets for 28CHF - £8.75 each!

At the height of sterling's strength, it was costing £6 for a public day ticket.
The last time I went to a British show was in 2004, and it was at the NEC. They were £15 for an adult and parking extra. Thankfully I had tickets and since then, I haven't bothered going to a home show. My client likened last year's MPH09 to a bazaar!!
The organisers really need to rethink their marketing. Remember, some of the manufacters pulled out citing 'show not an effective use of our marketing budget' etc etc.
Slight resurrection of this thread....
I hope all these people who organised their trips to this year's Geneva Show following the OP's thread will have a fabulous time. All these official pictures released in last few weeks whetted a number of appettites!
I am leaving for Geneva tomorrow (Monday 1st March)

Even the OH is looking forward to it, which can't be a bad thing even if the two cars on her 'list' are the DS3 Racing and the RCZ I hope all these people who organised their trips to this year's Geneva Show following the OP's thread will have a fabulous time.
