I do really like the look of the MG6 though. Hope it looks like that in the flesh.

What you complaining about you'll have another crap car to recommend.

Seriously though, good luck to MG I hope it works out.

Good luck to MG and I am pleased to see the Chinese owners trying to keep the companies roots alive - fingers crossed the BL build quality is not kept to!!

I like the look of the MG6, I hope they do a red Turbo version. I still want a Maestro or Montego Turbo!

The difficulty for naming the roads is that some of the better cars from the past organisations which made up what became MG Rover were either named after places like Oxford and Cambridge which mean very little when applied to roads as they are fairly widely used anyway, or there were numbers which again could be difficult 1100 Avenue to be named after the best selling car of its time, 1800 Road if it is a bigger road, or 2200 Highway if it is a bit faster.

There's not too much to choose from is there?

Only one I could think of was Midget but that sounds ridiculous in the context of a road. If you were to dig into the BL heritage, there may be richer pickings but maybe there'd be trade mark issues.

Sprite Street?

Actually, TC Parade has a nice ring to it. And Chummy Lane could be a good place to live or work.

A bit of a tangent but how about Boulevard of Broken Dipped Beams, just-off Lucas Alternatoranative Route.

Yes, silly me, tens of thousands of jobs lost and all the IP sold to the Chinese for peanuts (including the MGF patents, accidentally) but the new car isn't crap according to one guy on the internet, and therefore all humour and the last 40 years' worth of reputation is void.

What's your point exactly?
Actually, the MG6 isn't crap according to Autocar, who tested one a few weeks ago. All it needs is a decent six-speed 'box as opposed to the auto they got with the test car, and it'll be fine. As it is, they're offering a Skoda Octavia-sized car, which handles like Peugeots used to, and costs Fiesta money. MG have already said they're going for Mazda's market - NOT BMW's - and already they've undercut them with a car that's fun to drive and not badly finished either. The next model in the pipeline is a front-engined, rear-drive roadster to properly take on the MX5.

I think they're being quite realistic, actually. Basing themselves in Longbridge will give them a realistic perspective on what the competition are doing and what European low-cost sports-saloon/roadster fans want, and the Chinese have masses of money to deliver too.

Compared with the Phoenix disaster of a management, it looks far more promising. At least they want a foothold in Europe, rather than to take the money and run.

I wish it well. In honour to Cecil, I think Kimber Drive would be a decent name.

What's yours? It sounds more like your not getting any lovin at home more than anything confused
That there's quite a lot of opportunity for humour here, and the other guy is kind of missing the point?

Don't tell me there's actually Rover fanboys who are going to start coming out of the woodwork to cry over the fact people here are making jokes about this?

I'd rather have a 335d or GTR anyway.

Yeah, I'm sure a Chinese car based on a 25 year old Honda will be an outstanding purchasing decision...
