Car idling for 8 hours - any potential damage?
Discussion
A colleague of mine did the same in a Megane.
We were going out for a big corporate dinner, she drove. You could (can still?) remove the ignition "card" and lock the doors with it, but the engine would still run.
We noticed when we went back out to it and could hear that the engine was still running.

In my short time with the Migrane Coupe I had last year the keys (card) stayed in my pocket so if I was distracted when I parked up like if I was on a Bluetooth call. Obviously as soon as I got out the car after said call I realised!

I just wondering out of curosity now, how much fuel did it use?
On the clio if you hold the trip computer button in and turn the ignition on it will start the dash dignostics program. My 2ltr clio uses about 1.5lrs of fuel per hour according to this. So it could be upto 10ltrs! Or about £13 worth!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
