He has a point though - How would you feel if your wife/girlfriend went behind your back and posted on PH trying to gain support for her argument that you should sell your car as it's costing too much to fix.
If you tolerate this it's the thin end of the wedge.
His mistake was telling his girlfriend how much it all cost.
