For GTti main plan is full restore to almost standard just have Turbo Thomas down pipe and air filter. All else should stay same, if I want a truly fast car I'll buy one smile. Apart from recon engine has forged internals.

The last owner broke it and I'm fixing it wink

You arent the only one who wanted that!

You can get 45-50mpg out of it, can also be tuned up to 200bhp with a factory applied mod.

A chap called Dane Gross had two of them. one at 130bhp with 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and his race one at 196bhp which did 0-60 in 3.4 secs and 0-100mph in 8.9!!!!

I really want one!
Say what?

A 200bhp 700cc?

0-100 as quick as a Corvette Z06.

Cough.

I bought a white one back in 1992, it was less than a year old and i loved it. Fantastic performance. It replaced a Swift GTI I had. I replaced it with a CRX.
I bought another one a couple of years ago to re live my youth (Grey one), had an engine rebuild, extensive work to brakes and suspension. Totally standard.
Never really enjoyed it like the first so sold it on. Shame really.
Heres a pic.

Enjoyed my Rover 220GTi turbo 3 door hatch (quite rare), was a tatty thing n looked no different to a 216GTi :-). Lots of surprised looks at the traffic light grand prix ;-).
Also enjoyed my boosted MG Maestro Turbo (apparently 1 of only 500 made). 14.5 second 1/4 miles back in 1995, certainly made the Cossie boys sit up n take notice :-)).
Not mine but rarer still, my dad has a Talbot Sunbeam Cheetah (no.5 of only 13 made).
Was a dealer special based on the 1.6GLS but with a 2 litre brazilian block engine, twin 40 Webbers, 150 BHP, 150 lbft & an LSD. Was well quick when new way back in 1979!!!!

Grey one
Common theme that owners buy a few. My first was blue E reg in 1989 then new red K in 1993. Sold it in 98 and bought a new Impreza. Made sense at the time frown. Bought 3rd last year as project.

Your grey one looks fantastic. Mine is long way from that standard at the moment.

Sadly not mine. But I think this would be a very cool and individual hot hatch to own.

Individual as most would have been killed hopefully. The Pacer, styled by a shortsighted man and built with design innovations like different length doors 'America's Allegro' smile

Do I sense some doubt in that post?

My mum has a Sirion (basically the same car, but with 2WD and a 1.3 Toyota engine), and I think that weighed about a ton. So I can't see a 4WD turbo version being any lighter. scratchchin

You can question it all you like, I am just stating what I have read, I am not going to argue for a bloke I have never met or over a car I know nothing about:-

http://www.automotiveforums.com/t239399-do_you_own...

He seems to know what he is on about and has said he will give links to timesheets etc if you PM him, it may be a long time ago but you could always sign up and ask the questions.

Are there any non turbo Maestro Efi/2.0i's still out there? Haven't seen one for ages.
There's spooky for you.

Just taken some pics this weekend for the agreed value insurance renewal.

I've always thought that the Turbo version bodykit was too contrived and ugly, almost as if they added it just to make it look different and not for any aero benefit.

Bit late, but what about the only hatch that has attempted to move on suspension technology from cart springs, the Citroen Xantia Activa.150bhp turbo with active ride suspension.

"In 1994, the Activa technology was introduced, which is an extension to the Hydractive II suspension, where two additional spheres and two hydraulic cylinders are used together with computer control to eliminate body roll completely. This technology is more broadly known as active suspension, and the Xantia Activa has exceptional road holding comparable to true sports cars. In the Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld's moose test the 1999 model of Xantia V6 Activa still holds the record speed trough the maneuver.[1]"

On the larger side for a Hatch but a unique car with masses of tech that no other manufacturer has dared to dabble with.

Can I put forward my Audi A3 Sportback 2.0T FSI Quattro?
Less ubiquitous than the Golf GTi with which it shares an engine/gearbox.
Quattro 4WD like the S3 but less common and less lairy biggrin

Not really unusual though.

Uncommon, ugly, dull, and stupidly expensive. But not unusual.

Regardless of how quick it gets to a ton they look like brilliant fun! I love hot hatches that aren't fwd.

Pulsar GTi-R's are actually no lighter than a classic Impreza. 323 GTR/GTX a good call if you can find one!

How about a Pulsar VZ-R? 1.6 SR16VE with 175bhp, or 190 for the N1 version. You probably never got them in the UK but they go quite well, made as a competitor to the EK9 Civic Type-R AFAIK.
