Another +1 for Admiral - £550 cheaper (33%) than anyone else on my C43, although they still refused to acknowledge the insanity of the whole "2 cars, 1 NCB discount" thing (I can only drive one at once!).

Flux sorted me out on the Golf though, so if you have highly modified car (esp VW) give em a call. 820 from them, next nearest quote was 2K+

I just tried to get a quote from flux for a '98 328 sport at 21 years old with 3 years no claims, living in a great area and was told it would be well over £1000.00.

Tesco car insurance quoted me £679.00

These guys are such crooks! I tried to get my insurance renewed yesterday, and it's nearly doubled! With no crashes or anything! Apparently my area has become a 'red' zone or something like that...

I rang Flux for a quote on a TVR Tuscan I'm buying. They were around £300 more expensive than all the other quotes I've had and the girl (very polite I must say) told me that her boss would undoubtedly be able to bring it down significantly as he was an expert in performance cars. He would be ringing me back on Monday morning. That was last Saturday and he never did. Needless to say, I went with A Plan, cracking service and top bloke too.

Well, I'm not happy with Flux at the moment. I've been with them for a number of years. I was paying by monthly instalments.

Due to a reduction of hours at work I was unable to pay this month. I phoned them up to explain this, but told them that I was due a big payout from a pension in the next 10 days, so could clear the outstanding balance in full.

After 15 minutes on hold their response was - I have to pay half the balance within three days, the other half within a month. No other option.

Come renewal I'm going elsewhere. I was also going to insure my sons car with them. Not now.

Be very very careful around insurance and missed payments - use www.askmid.com/ownvehicle to ensure you're covered, frequently.

Is anyone actually happy with Flux?? They were about as much help to me as a poke in the eye.

Through my various experiences with insuring modified/imported cars I have found Sky Insurance are the best company for the service they offer, support of car clubs and price.

In my opinion Pistonheads management would be much better with a panel of insurers rather than just recommending Flux.

When looking for insuance try the following:

Sky Insurance
A Plan
Elephant/admiral (same company?)

I've used Flux for last 2 years and have been pretty good (I used them many years ago when I had a modified mini and got a bit screwed due to not having a proper agreed valuation) They've been very good. I did have a bit of a nightmare trying to renew my policy with them last year and eventually got there, but that was more due to admin errors.

I'm up for renewal soon and will most likely continue with Flux.

I'm with AF and have been for a few years now and I can't really complain as they've always been competitive for me.

However, I would like to know why I have to pay £25 every time I want to change something on my policy. It seems a touch steep for a few keyboard strokes.

I asked for a quote via this link to their site last Friday. No reply yet. It mentioned something about there being a 24hr reply service to an online application, which was no problem to me but nothing yet.......
