A slightly tatty example is somehow more appealing to me.

Lovely looking things in green, very '90s. Staggering how much these have turned the corner in terms of values, doesn't seem too long ago they were all £3-5k!

Was for sale last year for £7850.... looks gorgeous.

They've never really dropped below 30.
Have been plenty under £30k, they've picked up a bit recently on the coattails of everything else.

What's wrong with cash only?
Nothing, except that if you go there expecting to pay for example with a card, the price will increase.
Anyway, I'd be more concerned about the offroad adventures... wink

hehe

Today I drove it to Bracknell. And then, a couple of hours later, drove it home again. The 1M was the best part of the working day by some considerable margin... but those of you who know Bracknell will know that ain't saying much. hehe

It really is amusingly quick in-gear. And despite humble roots, it manages to feel remarkably special. Much more so than the e92 M3s. And the Michelin Super Sports seem to be made of glue - the grip is epic. That said, the roads were dry today - I suspect it all gets a bit lairy when wet.

The ride is pretty firm. And the exhaust drones a little at 80ish (a sheet of Dynamat is on its way to line the boot floor, which I'm hoping might help). But other than that, it's pretty ace.

And the more often I see it, the more I think it looks the bks. The arse end isn't exactly picturesque, but the arches and the wheels, and the front bumper / splitter, and the angry eye-brow headlights all look awesome.

So far, so good!

Looks like damn good value, especially with sensible miles, FBMWSH and BMW extended warranty.

If the age-old M5 v B10 debate remains divided, then the choice must get even more difficult when you throw the "S" into the mix.

The S didn't feel (to me) noticeably quicker than the non-S. But it comes with some not-immaterial extra running costs with more bespoke parts - brakes etc.

It looks great, but what sort of person has the plate B10 YOB? Just awful.

What does the S add to the mix? had a ride in an old B8 and that was wonderful

In performance / engine terms, it adds 200cc (ish) and a few extra bhp and Nm.

It's also more exclusive, in the sense that there were fewer made.

The Alpina Register gives more info on the full details, if you're interested.

The 'S' adds 28bhp, about the same in torque, whittles a whole 0.1 sec from the 0-60 sprint, lower springs, a couple of 'b' pillar badges and some eye-wateringly expensive (but undeniably better) bespoke Brembo's on the front end.

Plus the 19" newer style "crinkle-cut" style of wheel rather than 18" Softlines of the 4.6, plus M5 door mirrors unless I'm mistaken.
