Folks keep a look out for it in a few weeks. It'll be on 20,000miles and a 3k profit for someone dodgy.

Look at this automatic MX5 with an "incorrect" mileage of 173,295! Could this be a very rare case of clocking up a mileage?? biggrin Found it on BCA amongst a 2012 Qashqai with 174k on the clock...

Well this is why I asked it ITAA username with said Pug will be adding the actual miles to the V5 for the sale. He hasn't responded so I'm assuming he/she will not be so a potential innocent future punter gets a lemon

Do other PH always write in the correct miles into the V5 when sending off (due to sale of vehicle) ?

Given most on this site run performance cars of some sort of have thought we collectively own a high % of said performance models so always posting the right miles will stop certain individuals trying to rip off other innocent buyers with potential massively higher servicing costs and lower vehicle life to boot.

I always have & once I highlighted it my old man does too. Anyone here who doesn't?

Just grabbed a logbook I had to hand and saw the box, I don't see what it results in though as I've never recorded any docs ever that have indicative mileage on them, what's the actual purpose this serves and where is any recorded mileage visible to potential or new buyers?!? Genuine question, as if it is visible then fair enough I will in the future, if not and its just a massive data collection exercise for the DVLA then unlikely won't as it serves no real purpose

It gets submitted to the National Mileage Register and is then viewable when you do a HPI check.

Hey guys. I love this thread, and I thought I'd share something.

This came into my work recently as a Part exchange. 2014 Peugeot 208 with over 100k on it. 50k a year is pretty good going. As you can imagine, it was an ex learner vehicle. Another thing to note, It never had a service. We gave the owner £2000 for it. Body work was very clean.

Hello all. I thought I'd post an update, as a few of you were fairly interested in what happened to this car. The car has finally gone through the ring, it made £2800. Surprised it even got that high to be completely honest. Nice thing is I get 10% of that, so a cheeky £80 in my back pocket. The joys of being a car salesman. Sometimes we actually win! (most of the time we get fisted at the auctions)

Went with my father in law a couple of days ago to change his current car (bought new) which is a 2015 Golf manual for a new 2016 Golf auto as due to his age he is finding the clutch hard work

He is 83 years old

The salesman was astounded when he saw 55k on the clock

My FIL replied " well I don't really go anywhere"

£2800 minus purchase price of £2000 = £800

Our plucky poster gets 10% of that.

I'm sure whoever bought it will make much more when he winds back the mileage and sell it on though whistle

On wednesday, I sold my car, so for 63 minutes before it was sold there was a ZX 1.9td with 290,748 genuine miles on the clock!

No pics, as it's a boring car, but it was for sale briefly before being snapped up! At 290,842 now

I don't imagine many 80 year olds put 55k a year on their cars.

Really? Do you really think PH collectively owns a high % of all performance/exotic cars? What an odd notion.

My mistake, as one user pointed out, I make 10% of the profit in the vehicle. (The £800 part).. Still, I mostly get hammered at the trade, I'm paying £50 per poor KA at the moment and I can't even get that back for them!
