Most keen drivers will fit a proper suede steering wheel anyway so it is not a huge deal. However the lights are a real shame.
Are the gear change paddles mounted on the wheel or the column? Does anyone make after-market wheels with paddles on them? GroundEffect said:

A V6 would probably be larger, heavier, more expensive & less fuel efficient (with higher CO2 figures to go with it). It would sound magnificent though Alfa have a decent history of 1750cc 4 pot twin cams, so it's well within their history
I agree, the 4 fits the concept but a V6 would sound so much better, see also Exige roadster. Allegedly, CO2 was the reason production of the busso V6 was stopped. I wonder if they'll come back on that decision now the ice caps are growing again http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2012/09/19...

I could go on but am guessing you know how google works.
So : ice caps melt : global warming. Ice caps grow : global warming.
Solution : six tiny euro countries tax cars over 2000cc out of existance while all chinese trade in their bikes for cars, india gets motorised, and yanks start their car an hour in advance with their iphone so that the airco can run it nice and cool. Way to go.

From the Video of Chris Harris looks like they're on the wheel itself. I think there's RAID wheels available with airbags and paddles, but it wouldn't be a cheap nor easy swap sadly.
IMO the current RAID wheels look almost as bad as the original, so not much point. The hard core might want to go for a full hub and wheel replacement/airbag delete/custom paddles job. Pragmatic solution: just live with the stupid wheel shape and have a trim shop remove most of the useless padding.Kolbenkopp said:

Love the idea. Was thinking about doing similar with the seats; spec the standard fabric ones and have them bespoke fitted. Worth more to the driving experience than screaming red leather.Kolbenkopp said:

That's good point actually. I dare say there's a relatively simple, thin metal rim around under all that stupid padding; if the worst comes to the worst you could simply cut the spokes where they reach, rim and weld a nice simple round rim onto them, and have the whole thing retrimmed.
This is a pretty simple thing for Alfa to fix in future version, there will of course be costing models to look at for a complete redesign but would hope that a factory spec version of even the standard 4C wheel with less padding may be considered.kambites said:

Ah yeah, that's an even better idea -- or perhaps the wheel shape under all that stuff isn't even that badly "dented" so a bit of fiddling can correct the worst? What surprises me a little is that the shape of the airbag module doesn't look like anything else from FIAT (I've seen). Would have thought they'd go for something out of the parts bin here. otolith said:
Great review, surprised by the quote at the end saying he would take the Alfa over a Ferrari. However yet another glowing review.V6Alfisti said:

You're right but I thought it would be harder mainly because it seems to be a modern trend for damping to be very stiff.
True (although I think it's the springs that tend to be stiff on modern cars not the damping). Cant wait for some group tests, think putting it up against an exige s will be a little pointless given it just wont be able to match the Lotus' figures, although no doubt it will happen rather than putting it up against the Elise S which makes more sense despite the price.

It doesn't have to be able to match the performance to come out favourably in a test. One would hope that the Alfa is substantially more user-friendly than the Exige. Given the price, I'd like to see it compared to the Exige and the Evora.
