Aston DB5.

Whilst it's easy to joke that someone might buy an Aston because they think it makes them look like James Bond it is just that. A joke and a bit of banter.

However the ONLY reason you bought a DB5 was because you DO think it makes you look like Bond. That has always made the DB5 uncool in my eyes. I do appreciate though I might be on my own on this one.

DB4 cool. DB6 cool. DB5 not cool.

Wtf?

DB5 one of the coolest cars ever! You make it sound like DB5s are ten-a-penny! Where are all these fat, balding, old men driving around in DB5s pretending to be James Bond? I can`t remember the last time I saw a DB5 outside of a Bond film. Also, to most of Joe Public, a DB5 looks very similar to a DB4 or DB6. You have to be pretty minted to own a DB5, if the only reason for buying is to pretend to be James Bond then you might as well get a blue Z3 or a yellow 2CV!

I think some of us are mixing the cars up with the drivers. A VW camper (old or new) is not the least cool car ever. I would love to own either and I don`t even like going in the sea, let alone near a surboard. Are they less cool than a white or beige Peugeot or Citroen motorhome with Swift or Pegasus emblazoned down the side. At least you can use them a bit like a car and go in a regular car park!

BMW Z4M Coupe a strange choice as well. BMWs aren`t cool but this is probably one of the coolest ones and at least merits that M badge.

I know that M-Sport BMWs and S-line Audis are uncool to PHers because they`re mostly all show and no go but the average punter would say nice car mate.

No, for most uncool, you have to imagine that it`s your 18th birthday and your dad has just bought you a `new` car. You should be grateful for any car but surely he could have got something better for the money! Most women don`t really care what car you drive but these would make them think twice about going home with you!

Austin Metro or Maestro (I`ll admit to quite liking the MG versions though)
Vauxhall Belmont
Vauxhall Nova Saloon
Lada
Skoda (particularly Estelle - most people would concede that Skoda make decent cars now but they`re still not exactly cool)
Daewoo
Austin Allegro
Morris Marina
Yellow Fiat Cinquecento S SX

Alternatively something newer but looks like (and probably is) your mum`s or grandma`s car:
Nissan Micra
Hyundai Atoz or Amica
Toyota Yaris
Peugeot (07 Series or newer)
Suzuki Alto or Wagon-R
Mercedes-Benz A-Class (old) or Vaneo

Cars that even Jason Statham wouldn`t look tough driving:
Nissan Micra CC
Vauxhall Tigra
Any small hatch based CC - Yes mate, it`s still an Astra just heavier, slower, worse handling and less practical!

Anything made for people with more money than taste:
(Old) Range Rover Sport (I quite like the new one - prefer it to the FFRR in fact)
Bentley Continental GT - I`m sure it`s a great car and probably saved Bentley but also ruined Bentleys for me. IMHO Bentley should make gentlemen`s expresses like this:

not posing pouches for premiership footballers.

BMW X6
Don`t have anything against the MINI hatch and convertible, as they`re fairly close to the original in function and probably quite fun but not so sure about the MINI brand (Countryman, Paceman, Clubman seem expensive and there are better, more practical alternatives available).

Anything which might be mistaken for a taxi

I guess the exception is that a hot girl can look good driving any car. In my dreams, the perfect girl would drive something like a 205 GTi or a mk1 Golf Cabriolet but when I met my wife she was driving this. This is probably one of the least cool cars in my opinion, as it is neither good or looks good and felt unsafe at any speed!

It`s a 1998 Daihatsu Cuore in a fetching shade of metallic purple!

Coolness is always understated; anything or anyone who tries too hard isn't cool. for example, Bini One straight from the box = cool, Bini with huge aftermarket wheels, decals and chrome mirror covers and exhaust trim = uncool, Bini with estate agents logos advert plastered all over, furnace heat uncool, Bini with 'nail studio' advert plastered all over, nuclear reactor uncool.

Exactly this. There were a few pictures posted of 1980's Astra estates and general urban runarounds a couple of pages back.

These are just utilitarian boxes, not trying in any way to be cool, which actually makes them kind of cool.

i'd say not everything that is understated is cool...

I'm not afraid at all. I've owned all of them, (in slightly different guises) and if anything, they're too cool.

I remember picking my mate up once and as we drove out of his road, a young lad in a Reliant Rialto 3-wheeler came towards us.

My mate did the default looking down his nose bit, and made a mocking comment. I thought it was great to see though, it made a nice change from as stbox Corsa/Saxo/Polo etc.

Cool as fk in my eyes.

Least cool? Any Peugeot except the 205 1.9GTI, or the 205 Rallye. In fact, any Peugeot ending it's model designation with a 6, 7 or 8, or with 2 "0"s in the middle.

All the cars here are pretty cool really in one way or other, but a Ferrari trying to look like an MR2 with a bodykit and an MR2 pretending to be a Ferrari. On their own Cool, but the amalgamation of the two is a bdisation IMO!

No. There's one on my road and every time I see the owner driving it, I think fair play to him.

Ultimate budget motoring and he doesn't give a toss what people think.

But it doesn't make it uncool either because it's not trying to be something it's not.
